A Great Art - Time Management
by sanjeev reddy on Apr 15, 2007 01:44 PM  Permalink

I am in complete harmony with what Moninder has to say about Time Management. Most of us, who have a decent education background and dont want to miss the fun graduate in the same way.I did my bachelors from Ramaiaha and just like every pretentious engineer , i had a habit of procasting things till the last day.Even the books are bought in the last 15 days of exams and then we stress out to get good marks, though i completed my grads with an avg 70% which is not good as per the bangalore goes. The same pretentious fellow gets a job in India , its a fun to work for first 1-2 year of carrer. We made every conscious effort to transform our workplace to college. And, things always went well, since most of the work which you get in software during the first 1-2 year is trivial.During all this part, i followed the same routine, getting up at 10 and then rushing to office at 11. However, the real test came when i was deputed to Sanfranciso. As usual, it comes naturally to me to be in office late and then rushing to finish my work.I always missed my 10 am meeting and get a reason for not making it up.As in college, we would struggle in last phase of our testing(UAT) to complete out work to perfection.Though i admit i work hard but didnot gave any importance to time. And also i didn't wanted to miss fun in Sanfrancisco and my daily Gym.Things start getting worse for me as i was not able to balance my work, life and social events.I had my coworker, who was married and who too did everything which i crave, but he did those in time. Then i decided to take a back seat, and started priortizing my time. When you work in such an environment, where people value every second , you tend to appreciate them in different context. I am still learning the art, and i believe with the necessary hardwork and an effective time-managment skill ,
I would achieve what i always desired.

It sounds interesting but the fact is if in todays coorporat work you dont show ur best and forget everything whil u work u cant grow....one need to smartly work and prove oneself to rise high...ya after aquiring a better position time automatically favours ur personal life....

Yes, first rule of time management is "Dont waste time". So, utilize your time effectively instead of posting such questions in Rediff.

Cant agree, learning from others is the best quality than writing these craps as answers.

Time management need not mean that you have to glue only to work all the time. Priorotize. You need to relax too. Its a balance. Force yourself to move out of laziness. Start reading useful books.
