Wow!! Thats what I can say. The plans (Yes..the plans) sounds pretty rosy. If the money was coming out of Maharastra coffers then rest of India doesn't care...but NOT at the cost of rest of India. What is in it there for rest of India...Bull Crap !! Why should center spend 80% of money just for one city? There are other cities contributing to central coffers...not just Mumbai alone.
Folks please stop day-dreaming. First lets try to get clean drinking water for starving and dying poor of India. Then lets build world class cities. Otherwise India will be like a proverb - "Uppar Sey Rangeela andar sey Dokhla...."
It is really proud that mumbai is transformed into an international class of metros, but the other side of mumbai where a lot of middle class and lower class of people live here,It means only the rich will survive here and the poor cannot earn his bread and butter, and only there will the the survial of the fittest only, salam mumbai....
Having read this article, I wish to go back to the prestigious Worli-Bandra Sea Link Project, to which I was associated in early 2001. The project, which was to be completed in 3 years (from 2001!), is still not reached anywhere! Having experienced such delays and poor quality of execution, I do not think that Mumbai can replace Shanghai in the next 3-4 decades! In paper, its all good to read. Good Luck to Mumbaikers! Raju
and what about the Labour welfare fund collected by the government of maharashtra can a justification be given on what are the welfare activities that are involved or performed with this money that they charge per year from the Working class. and in turn they are getting nothing but \\\"bhasan\\\" of all sorts. So how many mumbaikars are really involved in actually transforming Mumbai for a better place to live. I think the Govt.Of.Mah believes in \\\"Ghar ki Murgi Dal barabar\\\" funda. Wake up guys keep mumbai as mumbai take responsibility and change on things that are really needed, and let me tell you stop begging from Others if you have it you can do it.
