This is coalition politics of the dirtiest type. A regional participant in the coalition is jeopardizing the stability of the ruling coalition because it feels its own power in the region is shaky, thanks to the growing irrelevance of its traditional politics. The increasing opportunities offered by a growing economy, supported by a winning investment strategy, are a serious threat to the divisive policies of casteism and parochialism promoted by Karunanidhi and his ilk. This is the era of opportunities, initiatives, competition and progress compared to the delusion of protection based on class and caste. Empowering the people to become more self-reliant is the only sensible way. Congress must challenge the questionable and unreliable support of the DMK in particular and the Left parties in general and ally with genuine nation building forces to run the government at the Centre. It is time the Congress realizes and makes people realize that a growing productive economy all across the country is the way to go. Protectionism has had its days; now it is time for a dynamic and vibrant economy, which is contributed to by all according to their skill and effort.
Good.Congress and the GREAT PM have withdrawn from the Divestment process.I hope they will show the same sagacity or intelligence to withdraw all anti-people policies like Service tax,Reservations,Securuties transaction tax and a plethora of stupid laws.Chidambaram who is going to impose a tax on Sulabh Shaulayas should also be shown the door and Stalin be given finance. Andher Nagari Chaupat Raja Jai sonia.Jai hind
this is the shameful to just retain the power go for the wrong decision.which will in long time effect indias future growth.but whom i m saying this when prime minister ki koi nahi sunta then who m i
It is distressing to note that when Govt.India tries to put a leg forward, its power sucking ally DMK with a thick family leadership pulls it backward for cheap popularity. The people of India should rise in one voice. It is not the workers of a corporate body who should decide as to who own the capital. It is the vast indian masses who own these PSUs. not its workers. High time the congress or what ever remains of the GOP throw the towel and allow whomsoever can rule this country for its good, rather than to cave in to the tantrums of selfish coalition partners
I guess Karunanidhi took a step in the right direction. More allies need to threaten this government so that we are rid of it at the earliest. We need normal people as prime ministers and finance ministers so that we can buy some vegetableas and grains at affordable prices. A government full of LSE economists isnt going to help one bit in this direction. From the way the Union Finance Minister is functioning, one would think the finance ministry should merge with the Home ministry so that the government can keep tab on who buys what, spends what, draws what amount of cash and such other petty things rather than keeping inflation and prices and interest rates down. After the farmers very soon i guess it will be the turn of people who availed of home loans to start getting into a spate of suicides, which I am sure will happen if Chidambaram remains finance minister, within the next few years. A fifteen year tenure loan has already become a 25 year tenure loan in one year with the same EMI. Kudos to karunanidhi and A B Bardhan and the like. Unless brothers stab at brothers in the UPA, there is no hope because the BJP is already dead
History will show this useless, do-nothing Cong-UPA govt as the weakest ever (weaker even than VP Singh's) and Dr Singh the weakest PM (then gain, he's only a proxy, not the real PM - that title goes to his 'Boss" Sonia G). The blatant communal policies of this govt threatens to destroy the very fabric of the society, creating unwarranted anxiety, leading to chaos and anarchy - so much for the 'secular forces' - what hypocrites. Yet, the useless, do-nothing UPA needn't worry - the opposition is too inept, confused and divided to threaten their hold on power, and the poor brainless masses are way too stupid to know any better. So, the country will keep staggering from one man-made crisis to the other - ad infinitum.
Again the left has won, which is bad for the growth- the disinvestment is for change in the industry and unit and bringing in new technologies, which cannot come now- and we go again backward with outdated machinery- God save Manmohan Singh- he is weak- We miss Indira gandhi in Congress- she would have dared thr left and DMK to withdraw support- it is only a threat- which the soft spoken bureaucratic Manmohan will not understand!
For God sake ban the coalition politics! Why should the "aam aadmi" the catch word of the UPA governments lead party should suffer because of squabbles within the partners. For a long time now, the ordinary citizen's support on everything the government does, has been taken for granted. The strange bed partner's theory, either in the central or in the state have proved to be an impediment for growth rather than act as catalyst for pauring in of diverse ideas on making progress. These politicians come together inspite of having ideological and personal differences on every issue they can think of on this earth.AS a consequence of this, any "good"step the government would want to take is first blocked by it's own partner in governance. The outstanding example is the threat issued by the DMK to withdraw support if the government proceeds with the disinvestment plan. You very well know that you are working with a PM who was earlier a FM who liberated INDIAN ECONOMY and opened INDIA TO WORLD. Please Understand that you cannot achieve growth and prosperty by locking your boundaries. If you cannot agree on this, it would be better for you to be in opposition instead of blackmailing.
