Rgrd Airport Modernization
by Abhishek on Jan 31, 2006 04:36 PM  Permalink

I am totally in favour of moderniasation of Delhi and Mumabi Airports. If we have to survive in this competitive global market then we need to develop ourself this is the steps towards it.

Our metros are having airports with international status but the services available rather inconvenience to the passenger and other players is hard to mention here.

Should all Airports in India Privatised!?
by Delvin Davis on Jan 31, 2006 04:27 PM  Permalink

According to me, all airports, not only Mumbai and Delhi, should be privatised. Or the goverment can choose Cochin(Nedumbasseri) airport model.

Which will give passengers more comfortability and cleanliness to the airports!

Airports privatisation
by Chandru Khatri on Jan 31, 2006 04:27 PM  Permalink

Yes, I am always in favour of privatisation. The CPI(M) thinks that they are guardians of workers, but actually, the matter is otherwise. Ever since Mr Manmohan Singh has taken over the reins of Government, they (CPI-M) had always throttle the path of progress initiated by our respected PM.

Have they (CPI-M) realised status of our Airports had declined considerably, because only they are controlled by Govt. Free them from the control of Government, and see the changes. The CPI-M Which thinks is guardian of employees, is acutually the enemy of general public. By resorting to strikes due to unnecessary reasons, these people do no service to employees, but create problems for them and general public. These people never change with the change of time, but they live and make others live in 16th or 17th century. Mr Yechury, you dont become hero by just creating obstacles, as per your likes, and also think, you re abused by majority of people, which will tend to make you villian.

Mr Yechury please stop this nonsense, see what is happening in Pvt Sector and EOW, where both work hand to hand, and later controlled by Govt, and emploees are made to suffer. you will then a real hero.

by K.D. Prem Kumar on Jan 31, 2006 04:25 PM  Permalink

Hi,

I agree with Government move that Airport should be privatised. This would help in providing better amenities to the Passenger, modernization at a faster pace and also will help in eliminating corruption, which is rampent in the Airports.

I am sharing this based on my own experience at Bombay International Airport.

thanks
Premkumar

Should be privatised
by Amitabh Kakoty on Jan 31, 2006 04:24 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Should be privatised for service efficiency, competitiveness, growth and for generating resources for development of these airports. Why govt should invest its scarce resources!..get private money for large infrastructure development as much as required.

Dear Revati,
The employe of Airport Authority of India deserve to
be thrown out becouse for last so many years they were
taking the paying public for granted with their bad
worl culture, behaviour and attitide. No sincere worker
losses his/her job.Good workers are always recognised so will be here too.The worry is for those who used to
draw pay and spent time in UNION ACTIVITIES.They must be shown the door.INDIA NEED MODERN AIRPORT SO MUST
SHE HAVE.Airport Authority IS NOT COMPETENT TO GIVE
THE DESIRED SERVICE.PRIVATE ACCOUNTABLE PERFORMER BE
GIVEN OPPORTUNITY.

Should Airports be privitized
by revathi venkat on Jan 31, 2006 04:21 PM  Permalink

Although in principle I do agree that airports are to be privitised, as an aiport user for the last 30 years and seen many airports around the globe.
But your remarks about the union is very heavy. Today
it may look that the labour rules are in favour of the employees but in reality they are not. Employees can just be thrown away, and they battle many years in the court against unjust retrenchments.
Any decision of this nature, must be taken with a human face ( ensure that the employees do not suffer)
and India definitely needs progress - no doubt about it.

Insight is essential
by ram on Jan 31, 2006 04:20 PM  Permalink

The AAI union shud think why matters have come to this state! due to years(or probably decades) of complacence?
This CPI/Communists(pseudo) jump the bandwagon all the time into unnecessary things, do they not understand how modernisation is gonna be handled by AAI?
God,please give some sanity to these people.

Airports-Delhi, Mumbai

Airports are the National Assets. Should not be handed over to private parties in any case. AAI has the expertise to modernize the Delhi and Mumbai Airports. They should be given a chance.

The same insane AAI has been managing the airports all over the country. Please travel back from any country back to Bangalore try to retrieve your luggage. I assure you that you will not be out of the airport before one hour. The conveyor belt that carries the luggage! My God!! You still can manage with these. You get a nature's call and walk into the Airport's toilets. Great toilets which have no proper flushes, no proper taps for the wash basins welcome you. Relatives are waiting for your arrival for hours together. There is a delay in your flight, there is nobody who bothers to announce the delay! Few of the relatives who dont mind paying a mind boggling Rs 60/- enter the Arrival lounge to be welcomed by mosquitoes. This is the sorry state of affairs of most of the airports in India.
If the AAI was really concerned about the facilities or modernizing the airports, it would not have taken so much of time. Things should change and change for better. It is not Govt's business to run airports and airlines which are considered a luxury by the Left. Please privatize not only the airports but also the carriers. The customer would be benefitted at the least.

I am sorry to know that you have such a shallow understanding of IAA. Unless you are one of them, it is a proven knowledge for the last 55 years the IAA could not do what they had in hand and do you think they will do when they are given the chance again. They are currpt, lazy and do not want to work for the improvement of the country. Their technical knowledge and comptence does not match with the international standards, so why should the country should waste the tax money of the its citizens on incompetant IAA work force?

I am very much agree with that AAI has all the technical expertise to do all the modernisation work of Delhi and Mumbai Airports. AAI is also financially strong. It can do the work through its own reserves. Only AAI can solely do modernisation work because it has all the airport related experts and technicians. Hence the question here arises to modernise the airports not privatite. By doing privatisation of Airpots, it is not sure that the airports will become world class airpots in one day. Instead of this, the modernisation work be given to AAI. Hence I am strongly of the opinion of giving all the modernisation related work to only Airports Authority of India.
