"But if the strike goes as planned, be prepared for dirty toilets"... Can the plight of toilets get any worse. Its an embarrasemnet to visit any of the airports. India is on the rise and to meet international standards privatization is the need of the hour.
for the steps you have taken to privatise the airports, Delhi and Bombay. They are the windows of India for the rest of the world. I work outside the country and when I landed in any one of these airports I feel sad that we as a big nation in the world cannot even maintain an airport to the international standards. Poor counties like Ethiopia has a better airport and well maintained.
Employees of the government has taken advantage of having the job and not doing their jobs. No Indian citizen will sympathise with them if they lose their jobs because they were lazy and dishonest in discharging their duties. It is a shame on Indians for not taking care of their country's properties, when they go out of the country and do the same job so perfectly and maintain other countries toilets and airport floors as bonded laborers.
May God bless our country's leaders in taking right steps in this direction.
The next project should be the Railways. Can you imagine the amount of human waste the railways through on our soil in a day? I wish someone can sue the railways in the supreme court for polluting the country's envirement. Jai Hind
I strongly beleive that our airports MUST be privatized. I have travelled a lot across the globe and found that the airports of smaller towns in europe are far more better than our Mumbai airport. A person feels like taking plane back immediately after entering the arrival terminal of Mumbai airport.
Employees fear loss of revenue on bribery and robbery so they will oppose the move. No one should care about them. It is enough for the passengers by now and they definitely deserve good services. AAI by no means is able to do this massive work and should never be allowed.
Bravo Mr. Patel, at least you are taking a move in the right direction.
AAI should be corporatised with management control being shared by the government and AAI employees and then the sector of airport management should be thrown open to let other entities compete with AAI and thus creating best value for money for everyone...
we need privatisation and it should be done if public needs better services. everything has agot prons and cons....may be by making them private airport facilities will become a bit expensive but even after that they will be value for money...
The government clerks are lazy, corrupted, indifferent, non-cooperative, biased, you name a bad word they are upto it. The should not take the job as granted and do anything possible. Throw all the organisation into private hands, but at the good price.
I was an employee with AAI for 9 years and can fully endorse the fact that the employees, as in any other govt. or psu enterprise, are lazy and indifferernt to the changing needs. Since they are sure that there is NO WAY they will lose their jobs and salary, they will go for strike whether it is a just cause or not. Here they are worried that they will have to forego the confort they are enjoying now. AAI is a corrupted PSU, and they can't match the speed necessary to upgrade the airports in india in another century. Let the privatization happen - I am sure, it will, even if these people strike for ever - and everybody can have the fruits; the only bad part for many of the LAZY and ignorent AAI employees is that they will have to WORK to earn their salary. For the system to work better, people should be responsible and answarable. (This is true for EVERY enterprise in India). Privatization will make that happen. I dream of a GREAT nation INDIA in the coming decades. Let us shed our personal interests and work together to make that happen. My dear ex-colleagues, please let the nation sprint forward - dont break its weak knees. JAI HIND
Sir, I agree with the demands of the employees. The question remains is that how to go about with modernisation. The alternative proposal given by the employees is the best option available. Privatisation is not a manna from the heaven, but many brainwash us to think so. The overall strategy of the developed nations to handicap us should not go unopposed.
