Should Airports be privatised?
by Syed Azadar Husain on Feb 01, 2006 04:20 AM  Permalink

I think that our internation airports are no where in comparision with the international airports of some of the developed contries.
Privatization has done good for the sick companies in the past and I believe that our airports should be privatised but some part of control like security etc. should be taken care by the government.

Privatization of Indian Airports
by Sumith Sreedhar K on Feb 01, 2006 04:01 AM  Permalink

Yes, i think that the decision taken by the government to privatize the Airport is correct. Private players will be more flexible and they can bring better state of art technologies in mordernizing the Airports. As India is emerging as a fast growing economy, the infrastructure has to be given ultimate importance to attrace foreign players. What i just want to say is that, before Delhi & Bombay Airport, Bangalore airport has to be given utmost importance.

by Rakesh on Feb 01, 2006 02:04 AM  Permalink

No not at all,
what you people think if it privatized things will become ok, only one thing will happen, tomarrow your children loos job. This MNC will give only 20 job but AAi can give 150 at the same time. I am a IIT MTech student this time all MNCs giving only 13000thousand rupees per month in place of 80000per month abroad . Now also AAi announced 150 vacancies but because of this they are not recreuit. Today we are loosers but tomarrow your children .you have to think how these MNCs making mony using Indian brain, it is a new slavery and discrimination

Privatization Of Airports
by Pramod R. Sami on Feb 01, 2006 01:59 AM  Permalink

In a subtle move the government has decided to modernize the airports while the employees seem to be disheartened with this move. The ESMA is one such weapon that can supercede the employees behaviour. Privatisation is a good thought and should be welcomed by all means no matter what it takes. It is utterly dyslogistic a thought that AAI should do the modernization as against the private parties. We've seen the coutcome of both the public and private sectors in the past and by all probabilities shall vote in favor of privatization of the Airports

Privatisation
by Jane on Feb 01, 2006 01:35 AM  Permalink

Look to what actually we need. We need modernisation for the sake of better facilities. How can privatisation solve that. How far has privatisation in other sectors like electricity board have changed the situation. What is important is changing work culture and that doesn't means change in staff. We are talking about better India. But the basic problem of India is unemployment. When we are discussing unemployment how can we take such a step where in number of people will be unemployed due to this step, cause privatisation means cutoff of manpower. Is that solving problem? And all those who feel airports are not clean I'm the viewer passengers who complain are the basic reason of untidiness. I've seen people from high class too spoiling cleanliness. Rather than blaming others why not we ourselves change. Privatisation is not the solution infact its a hidden problem for everyone in future we aren't aware of. And if govt feels this is solution then it must prepare itself too, to get privatised someday, cause thats the only way to get better India then. Think guys.

privatisation of airports
by ipsa on Feb 01, 2006 01:20 AM  Permalink

I do support the cause of providing more, better and faster services at the airports (delhi n mumbai). There is an urgent need of upgradation of facilities at the airports. But what we do not realise is by such kind of privatisation taking place the amount of political favourtism and under the table is always on the high.Just think why every political party which is in power is in support of privatisation. Its only bcoz of the underhand dealings and the benefits that the political leaders gain from it.The maintainence and mordenisation of airports can be done by the Airport authority India.Government work always remains entangled in red tapeism, but still if given proper incentives and at the same time employees be also given proper thrashings, threatened of losing their jobs (if dont do the work before deadlines or if some kind of customer complaint is recieved) then probably the work would be much easier.whenever a sword keeps hanging on their heads they are bound to give in their best...... I think instaed of passing on the mantle to private bidders I think the reforms shud be done at the government level itself.

Definitely airports should be privatized
by Rohit Nasa on Feb 01, 2006 12:46 AM  Permalink

Airports must be privatized, not only from the infrastucture point of view but from the staff as well. It takes hell lot of a time to clear embarkment procedure at the Delhi Airport. People sitting there can't even type names and the take so frequent breaks even if there's a huge line waiting for them.

It feels really bad while leaving as well as entering India after seeing these guys working. Privatisation will definitely increase the standard of working dramatically. We should learn from the sectors where privatisation has completely changed the face of the sectors, whether be banks or communication to mention.

I am defineltely looking forward to better looking airports and more efficient people working there.
