Privatisation of Airport services
by Ravindranath UP on Feb 01, 2006 12:18 PM  Permalink

The employees are naturally right. Why should they take the risk of working in a private set up where they have to be productive and accountable? Whereas everything is automatically yours when you are in Government service : increments, promotions, job security, pension .. what not! Secondly they know that the coalition government has to listen to the Left, and the Left gets one more chance to prove who's the boss.

The airports should be privatised. I feel very bad for the state of Indian Airpots. Its the first impression for many travellers coming to India, and its BAD. We should change the scenario quickly and privatisation is the step in right direction.
One can not hold the entire nation for the benefit of few people and especially for these inefficient people. And please Left parties should keep themselves out of this. I think they consider blocking any good thing as their birthright. They should change their attitude.

by Sandeep on Feb 01, 2006 10:16 AM  Permalink

Yes Indian airports should be privatised. We are progressing in each department why not in the aviation also and Now its time to have a world class airport. If you compare indian airports with any of the world class airport you will see the difference in the facilities porvided and this difference can only be minimized by privatising the Airports as our govt employees are not professional at all.

Airports Privatisations
by Hemant on Feb 01, 2006 09:56 AM  Permalink

Hi,

In case the AAI is now concerned about the Airports being privatised, where were they for the last so many years when the airports are in sucha a bad shape, why they are waking up now when the Govt. is decideing upon the privatisation.

Regarding LEFT, they are only politically motivated by the WB Elections, if they are so concerned about the jobs of the emplyoee, why are they not asking the AAI to work properly and giving the best of class service to the citizens of India....????

should airports be privatised?
by kirubakaran on Feb 01, 2006 07:15 AM  Permalink

YES, last month when i landed in delhi airport with my east asian foreign friend he compared his country airport with that of delh, it was very embarrassing for me with all the dirty looks and the irresponsive behaviour of the employees at delhi airport.

Its high time that we mordenise our airport. but, should it be privatised? YES, nothing in india can be mordenised without being privitaised.

by RK on Feb 01, 2006 06:38 AM  Permalink

the first person who posted his comment, got it right... the current employees who are threatening to strike, are simply lazy fellows...just look at the other international airports... it has to be privatised.

Privatisation brings the standard
by Viraj Mangaldas Pai on Feb 01, 2006 06:06 AM  Permalink

Both major and busy airports of India bringing low ratings so far and no doubt it was due to the runnning by govt. Privatisation will bring the best services and upgradation to the international level. Due to privatisation there will be a tough competition in service standards. Privatisation is MUST otherwise India stand to get negative from all the tourists / travellers .

AAI is not at all capable of doin this
by romi on Feb 01, 2006 05:25 AM  Permalink

NO ways... the employees only concern is that they will not b well taken care of after the privitisation takes place and that they will no more b a governmtnt employee. their cry is foul. if u wan to see india go head to head with the world this is the first impression we will give when people drop in india. Airports are now a neccesity for any country and if we ewant to see india as a super power it has to develop in all field and this is the way it should b done. the employees demand too much.

Its Privatisation not Outsourcing
by Balaji on Feb 01, 2006 04:59 AM  Permalink

i do not knwo why there is such a big hue over privatisation. Its not outsourcing where the work is going out of country.think how the situation will be when your work goes out of the country and beleive me if we dont get efficient (which is privatisation, Public sector hasnt shown that mich of teh result in efficiency)that will happen one day.
