We should look at the airports like Changhi, KLIA, Heathrow or for that instance HKIA / JFK... Indian airports stinks...
I was at mumbai domestic airport, it was like a Bus stand near a vegetable market, all chaos, Toilets were stinking and what not...
People who fear privatisation are those ppl who are complacent in life, i dont think so any hard working employee has been laid off in any private firm...
Its high time, infrastructure should be improved drastically... i hail the efforts of the govt...
Just how many times are people expected to demand this, demand better services, airports to make it heard? I just have one question, do these people who are going on strike, or who control people who go on strike know what people who use the airports want? Maybe they don't know this or don't care, it's through us who pay the hefty airport and other taxes that they get their salaries.
So do they (CP(I) or whoever) know what we feel about this? What's their reaction to all this?
I can understand that a low level employee who is joining this strike is afraid of losing his job.. but he can join the private firm that takes over as a 'more disciplined' employee if he WANTS TO. And if he just loves the unmonitored unruly haven that he has been offered all these years, then he just deserves to lose his job.
And people who instigate such people to go on strike, these political infidels who don't care about India's image as seen by the outside world, should be stripped off their powers to control even a single stone in this country. I say, get rid of these people.
Of course privatisation will be fantastic. The Airports will be cleaner, more on international lines, services will improve manifold.
Can you imagine if all the cars were made by the Government? What kind of quality would you expect? Just take a look at our Govt. run hospitals, roads, etc. Pathetic to say the least.
All Govt. Depts. should be accountable. They should come under SEBI like bodies. All their expenses should be transparent. They should publish their 'Profit & Loss' statements every quarter. When the Govt. can ask each citizen to maintain accounts and scrutinise all our expenses then why can't we do the same?
Privatisation is the need of the hour. MTNL service was aweful till privatisation came in. Now they have woken up and started giving some service. Before they used to treat customers worse then animals. Sudhir Multani
Hi, I personally feel in all ways we should privitise the Airports to bring airports to international standard. The main reason i feel this way is there is so much corruption and negligence all over the airport mainly in bombay international airport where customs and airport personal will snatch what ever we have and terrify people like anything. They behave like a local gundas and with out any shame beg for dollars who ever come from international flights. Privitise everything and keep a independent body to look after the new guys so that they will not fall under same category.
Why should 1 billion people of the country suffer because 20000 people want job security without performance for the rest of their lives? Think about it how selfish you must be that you want the rest of the country to pay taxes to keep you in a job irrespective of it is good for the country or not. Wake up.The days of getting a job for life are over. This kind of thing cannot be sustained.
As a frequent traveller outside india, i have to say that the modernization of our airports is long overdue. Giving it to the same IAAI or red volunteers of IAAI will not take us anywhere. If IAAI were serious they could havd done the same ten years back.
They have resources right. But the employees have no attittude. the trade unionis have made a bunch of non performing workforce in india. I am not against trade unions or collective bargaining; it should be for a cause. not to avoid work at all cost.
yes indian airport shoul be privatise in private airport we can get maximum facilities in goverment sector the employee can not co -operate and they do not do thier work properly
Besides privatising the airports, the govt should also sanitise the airport surroudings. People may disagree, but slums, rain-washed-worn down houses...., buffaloes...etc in the vicinity of an airport dont give a good impression. An airport is the gateway to a country, and it creates the first impression of what the country may look outside it.
I dont understand what are the workers problem if airports are privatized. They are more exploited by their union leaders and so called "leaders of workers" than by private parties. They are just afraid(or mislead by their leaders) that they will have to work more efficiently. no one understands that we need to improve our infrastructure badly. Govt connot afford the expansion. Also if they take it up, half the fund will go to big shots as bribe, it will be in snail pace, and the work will be sub-standard. If we have better airports, eventhough the ticket price & airport taxes are increased, it is not going to affect common man, but only big ppl who use these services. All these old leaders will not live for another couple of years. So they dont want anything good to happen. A prosperous India should be dream of all the youth. Everyone should think of India 20 years ahead and try to come to politcs, influence these workers and lead them in better direction..
