Well, in my opinion indian railway should be privetised because at this perticular time we generally need very specific development where railway is one . Now our railway department is having very age old technique of its proliferation. So at least we need such kind of improvement which is only possible in part of pvt sectors.

Airport privatization
by Ram Narayanan on Feb 20, 2006 03:14 AM  Permalink

Of course, this must be done. Incompetent and non-working communists must be given a one-way ticket to Russia or China. Work or you will be replaced!

Should be Privatised
by Shiva on Feb 03, 2006 12:27 PM  Permalink

I say ..the Airports should be privatised....beacuse it is not possible for the government to look after the maintainance of Airports properly. And more over.... when the financial bid is released for the maintainence nearly half the money will be eaten away by some bad politics.

So i feel its waste of use handling the maintainance of airports by the government.

I do't know what is this going on?? What is the problem in privatisation of the airports. I think india's air port will be well developed ( like bangkok and singapore ) after the privatisation. Since bangkok & singapore airports are private so they are in good shap.

I do't think there will be any problem if we go for air port privatisation..

by M.Rajendran on Feb 02, 2006 05:50 PM  Permalink

Following should be privatised

1) All Airports
2) All PSU's
3) Indian Railways
4) Electricity Boards
5) ICF . RTO office, etc, etc
the people those who dont want to work, are against privatisation, they want to get salarry for their signature in attendence registor daily without doing their work. think USSR what happended to that country.
India should not be a another USSR or any other communist country.

If we want to compare with the Tokyo-Narita and Zurich-Switzerland Airport, It would be only possible through privatisation of Airports in India.

Airport privatisation --- and demilitarisation!
by Philip Thomas on Feb 02, 2006 12:21 PM  Permalink

Airport privatisation is hot news these days. There is no denying the long overdue need to privatise them for the sake of modernisation. The airport unions are apparently a power unto themselves just as bank employees and transport operators are!

But what we may need to realise is the shadowy role of the military in Indian civil aviation. They control a big chunk of airspace including for international overflight purposes. They also control about 20 airports where there are so called civil enclaves (CEs). At these CEs like HAL/Bangalore, Dabolim/Goa, Lohegaon/Pune and others there are fairly severe restrictions on civilian flights imposed by the needs of military flight training for several hours each day. In addition aircraft parking space is very limited and expansion of operations to keep pace with economic demand is very tardy due to the perennial "security considerations". Civilian air traffic is forced to opt for distant and costly greenfield airports and shift from CEs! This is the experience at Kochi where a new Cochin airport came up 6 years ago. Its high time the MILITARY moved to new airfields and freed CEs in this era of low cost air travel in India.
