Perils of 6rth Pay Commission
by Peter on Jul 20, 2006 04:04 PM  Permalink

We should not be against the pay-rise. Rather, the last pay-rise (5th commission) boosted the economy as disposable income incresed.

BUT, we should be opposing the selective implementation of recommendations! i.e Govt. should also implement suggestions like slashing workforce, reducing number of levels (in hieararchy), reducing skills imbalance (93% of workforce belongs to classIII & IV!)etc.

VIth Pay commission - announcement
by Pawan Tripathi on Jul 20, 2006 04:02 PM  Permalink

Though much delayed, the announcement that VIth Pay Commission will be constituted is a welcome relief to the Central Government employees who are reeling under the tremendous impact of the rising prices. But the major question is the timing: will the recommendations of this new commission, if and when constituted, be accepted in 2008-09 (Elections are due then)? Or, indeed, will it be soon to provide much-needed relief to the suffering Government employees, whose pay packets compare (if any comparison does exist) very unfaroubly with those in the corporate world. Only time will tell. But for the moment, Central Government Employees have some cause for celebration, at least.

Public Sector vs Private Sector
by Anirudhya on Jul 20, 2006 04:02 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

To all my dear friends, who have pointed out that the public sector pays much less that the private sector, I could not agree more with your. Especially with the rising cost of livig and basic ammenities, pay needs to increase. But mind my words, pay needs to increase i did not say public sector pay. If one feels that private sector pays more, why don't you guys try and join the private sector. That way it would kill couple of birds at one shot.

a. The government would be forced to increase the pays of the public sector to attract talent if people start moving out.

b. People who are dissatisfied with the public sector pays would get better pays in private sector.

c. In some cases, people moving over to the private sector would help public sectors reduce some of their fab.

I am sure people who read this article would argue that there are not enough jobs in the private sector. Well thats true, thats why it pays more. And its not only the job but also the job stability. So, if you are dissatisfied with your job... go out and do something for yourself.

RE:Public Sector vs Private Sector

Comparison must be done to some extent but for that clear working must be declared like private sector.

There must not be so much rule and regulations & their confusion. Because of these rules working can't be so fluent and work target can't be decided. So you are requested to please simplify the rules like private. Here are some suggestions :-

1. Service rules like pension, DCRG, LTC and so many pay structure and there combinations are to be simplified. Because of these concussion and their checking it is a burden on the govt. It must be so easy that a person is sufficient for checking service matters of at least 100 field workers by one person. One person is sufficient for paying salaries of at least 500 persons and not only that the pay must be directly be deposited in their account. computer education must be must for the employees. Increments must be stopped if they does not pass the computer test. Without simplifying the rules comparisons can't be done.

What about work & bribe, Bribe should be made official
by ravi on Jul 20, 2006 03:36 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

All these bloody .... fellows are asking for the revision of pay, but have they given any thougt for work.

It should be on pay for work, all govt offices all the employees, every one knows with what efficiency they work. In the day of 8 hrs, they hardly work for half an hour max that too for only some of the days in the year.

On top of it they take lot of bribe, when ever you go for any work to them thay will ask for the money.

Why don't make this bribing official, and the same should be added to the salary of these .....

We are paying huge taxes only for these inefficient babus.

Govt should cut down the working force as being done in the case of private companies.

If you see the % of salary of any good comapny was not exceeding 4%. That hold true even today after good raise that is due to loading the person excessively after cutting down the strength, why the govt also not think in the same way. In any govt office you will see lot of peons still the files are not moving, and for any move thay will ask for money.

It is really painful that all the salareid emplyoees will be over burdened again due to this.

Real PATHATIC, God should save us from the PM & FM.

Pressure of communists on UPA
by Chandran.A. on Jul 20, 2006 03:30 PM  Permalink

According to me the use of "pressure of communists on UPA has lead our Prime Minister to announce setting up Sixth Pay Commission" is extrmly wrong and as a senior most leader of Congress Mr Priya Ranjan Das Munshi should have kept some common sense while giving such a public speach.
