India has never been united. We would have got independence long back if we could unite. Now its a known fact that the conditions of India Airports is worst than that of Pakistan Airports. Pakistan being a cut-off part of India are always considered to be no competition to India. However, if you see the Airports are definitely more better than India. Mumbai is one of the worlds most busy Airports. A destination entire world wants to visit. Looking at the current status we feel ashamed of ourselves. Non of the AAI employees has the responsibility or Ownership to improve its condition. They themselves are to be blamed for this step of Govt. Rather than going in for strike a blow in Govts. face would be taking up the challange and within lesser time and with the funds that are available build a Airport better in all respects as compare to the bids that have come in. As our President says why critise our country find what have you done 4 your country. Its time now for the AAI employees. "If you have guts and love your pride. Dont worry about job. Take the challenge. Show that you are hardworking and not hardly-working". So what the target for modernisation Jan 2008. Lets do it.
The whole problem is that government employment has become synonmous with " work or sit idle , get paid and (over and under tables) with government securuty". They have become so used to this luxury that any amount of education can not cleanse them. Naturally they will never wish to be exposed with all the lethargy, inefficiency and red tape on their part. Even though it is late for the govt to have awaken to such requirements , there are so many more departments that need the privatisation shot. Enough is enough. They have been milking a dead cow for so long. Why the CPI is crying hoarse is only to garner sympathy from its vote bank. It is they who have been responsible for most backwardness visible in states ruled by them. People in those states are always on look out for jobs in other states because there are no industries, no jobs there. Thank heavens, they never reached the Centre , otherwise the whole country would have been like that. We wish all sectors are privatised and this govt secured jobs are done away with at the soonest. Best wishes.
All accusations are baseless.Main problem with the Employees is that in case it is privatised ,they are afraid that their performance is closely monitored and those who do not work properly will be thrown out. As every one is aware, nearly 70% ARE INCOMPETENT or Corrupt in the work culture.Hence the Fear Psychosis. With regards Communist Party of India, I really wonder whether our Communist Parties can match the ideology of the Communism.Serious doubts!!!Alternatively , the Communist Party of India (whether M or I or any other letter) be given the responsibility of organising World Class Airports Maintenance at all Five Important Airports--one Simple Single responsibility.I am surprised since they are part of the Govt by virtue of their support, they should have advised the Govt well in advance before the bids are accepted.
PKL. Feb4,2006. Well it is all dejavu, worker's suspicions, government's anxiety to socalled reform ,modernise and privatise the holy-cows of profit making services that are cost-intensive ,hence hold the possibility of milking profits for private parties while effecting efficiencies in deploying currently inflated and inured to lethargy oversized work-force. In all this what is being forgotten is absence of efficiency and service to the aviation services and make it available to ordinary Indians, that is nobody concerns ,ever ,including fire-eating trade-unionist under sri MKPandhi whom Ihave heard often indulge in broad marxist rhetoric contributing nothinf to the cause of the poor except the labour aristocracy of the urban and unionised workers in sunlight sectors of metros. This is not a panacea for radical social revolution ,sri Pandhiji ,and Manmohanoeconomics to be sure shall lessen net -employment and the security ,now enjoyed under PSU by inefficient workers all these socialist decades! What is happening at the airport is of course sad and the future of INDIA remains unknown. However, to all those people who are patriotic for INDIA and wish to do something as a youth or as anyone, a new group has been formed that will discuss and will later on in the future solve such issues. For information on this visit www.freewebs.com/ndpi and join at groups.msn.com/ndpi . Good luck! Let's hope pure communism never hails in a world of freedom. JAI HIND!! VANDE MATARAM!!
I really appreciate rediff.com coming up with these segments. But I believe they should also put some analysis and other details for e.g. (away from the topic) any references to constitutions, government regulations, similar historical events, and so on. I am still clueless about the Karnataka situation.
Come on. Even the railway stations and bus stands are badly managed. So is the government going to privatise railway stations ?
The thing about privatising airports and mordernising is about making money.
As an NRI even I feel Indian airports are not upto mark but what percentage of Indian population travel by Air ??
Chennai Airport is better than how it was a couple of years back. There is no private participation in chennai Airport. Cant the govt follow the same principle for other airports.
UPA made election promises for which the govt does'nt have money. They want to sell national assets to fulfill their promises. 15 years from now the country will not have a single PSU and the revenues will dwindle. I dont think anybody in the UPA govt including the prime minister is prescient enough deal these issues.
Going by projections for growth of air travel, both local and international, the Delhi metropolitan area needs at least two additional airports, one immediately and another within ten years, to meet the burgeoning air travel. Ditto for Bombay. Who's going to ante up for building these? Maybe AAI should start the ball rolling with these new greenfield airports if they are so confident of their capabilities in running such complex projects - the govt should call their bluff; let them put their money where their mouths are - either put up or shut up!
Please do not mention about what the communists say or do . I hate them from the core of my heart because they hate Indian philosophy . I ignore them in all spheres of activities if you want to survive .
Your correspondant states ***** Among these, the AAI owns and manages 5 international airports ******
Well he seems to be still living in the early 1990s! There are now 15 international airports of which the latest, Calicut (Kozhikode) got international status only a couple of days back.
Ofcourse of the 15, not all are owned by AAI. Cochin is private (CIAL), Bangalore is HAL, and Pune and Goa are defence airports. But that still leaves 11 OWNED and MANAGED by AAI!
Please dont take readers for a ride with such poor reporting and dent your hard earned credibility.
