I'm afraid that Privatisation of Delhi and Mumbai Airports will reduce the total count as many unwanted employees will be filtered out which is good in fact. Moreover, employees then have to perform unlike where GOVT. OFFICIALS dont give a damn while at work. Exchange of monetary funds will not tak place under the table instead that will be reduced to a greater extent. Perhaps, the employees of AAI are currentl facing this threat.
If AAI is able/capable of building good airports, and if they have demonstrated that, why is that they themselves demanding for modernization? It is because they have not done a good job earlier, govt is forced to take up that task. now, you talk of singapore/hongkong...gimme a break... just visit those airports and have some attention to detail on cleanliness, efficiency & utilities etc... just take any plane back to land in a mess ... Pay a visit to singapore/hongkong airport toilet and yours sir... before taking the name of those airports, you should at least do this much.
I understand the fear that the AAI employees have, they fear that they will no longer enjoy the benefits of being a Central govt employee and will be under a hire and fire policy of a private firm. What if they can be promised the same benefits, but the hire and fire policy should stay. The policy should only be implemented for sloppy and bad work and not for increasing the profit margins. If they do not agree to this kind of suggestion, then it will be revealed that all they are worried about is actually working for a change. Compared to International work environment, Indian work environment is surely suppressive and depressing, these bad conditions should be removed. There are lot of leg work to be done before handing out a airport like that to a private company, but in all I am not against it, it is good.
What we need is a protest by all passengers and commuters at these airports against the striking employees. 2000 employees against a million passengers, lets see who wins...
Hi, This is purely AAA selfish. They are not interested about India, they are thinking about their personal interest (job security, lassy work and etc.,). Government should stop/remove these people activities. Only in India everyone can go for strike without any reason and government will beg these people for withdrawing strike. Stop this nonsense, it is time for government to take bold decisions to build incredible India.
Union President Mr. Padhe is using the example of Singapore to show that the governments can build and manage airports as good as private sector. Well Mr. Padhe needs to know that if an employee does not work at his/her best Singapore airport management will immediately sack the employee. Unfortunately the public sector in India is a bonded slave of the unions and no one can be sacked and no one needs to work. As a user of Indian airports and having travlled all over the world I can tell you that AAI managed airports are the worst at par with Sub-Saharan airports! Why - because union protected employees just don't work. Privatisation of all airports is the only answer. The public sector is a drain on the Indian economy and the unions are sucking the life blood of the country. Congratulations to the Man Mohan Government for standing up for the country at large!
coz these give india the most stupdiest part i have come thru .. the communist.. whose only agenda is to make india bleed so it can beg with china. if u guys have any patriotism please shut these dumb parties of ure state and make india prosper. if bihar can do it can bengal and kerala not stand up?
Let the AAI first maintain and operate its Airports efficiently, which by any measurement it is not doing and then we can talk about AAI building worldclass airports. What India needs now is world class airports FAST, it should be able to sustain the economic momentum it has built during the last decade and it needs good airports for that.I would very much doubt if AAI could complete such projects in such a short time. I say this because AAI being a governament organization is liable to a lot of issues, Unions being one of them and also corruption these are two very dangereous issues when it comes to project delays which we cannot afford. Thus i feel the governament of India did a fine job in getting the privatisation process done, Finally.
Forget modernization, these AAI employees cannot even maintain and keep the present airports clean. Whenever I land at IGI (Delhi), the first thing I smell is strong and repulsive smell of disinfectant.
On a recenet visit to Delhi, while I was in the waiting area to board direct AA flight to Chicago, the restroom was in such a pathetic state that I decided to wait to board the aircraft. I heard the samilar comment from an american lady telling her husband about how dirty the rest-rooms were and that it was the worst she had ever seen.
So, AAI /govt employees would do a great service by just doing their house-keeping work efficiently and be courteous to all passengers (Indian and Non-Indian) equally. Leave the modernization work to the companies who know their job.
