Still I will suggest !!
by avinash jain on Jan 12, 2007 05:26 PM  Permalink

Dear All, despite this article I will suggest u all to first understand what is company and share and than invest in either MF or Shares as here nothing is Guaranteed unlike Bank FD , POST OFFICE PPF etc. , even in slack period MF cant do anything remember RIL share price at Rs.116/- way back in 2000-2001 no body was investing except UTIMF had purchased so how these new mushroomed (may be oldest in Europe and USA but new in INDIA ) can enter in 2003-4-5 onwards and give us solid returns not possibel at all . after all in MF's nothing is guaranteed they r also speculating like others do fresh MBA's working there as FIN analysist dont even know basics of company law and GDP and about Raw material in industrt how will they predict a share price just by seeing the graph .
they always suggest to trigger Stop Loss .
so plz. carefull its all yr harderned money go for Guaranteed stuff where Maturity Value is mentioned and banks giving intereset for 10 yrs FD (OBC adn BOB is giving 8.5% ) 10 yrs FD int. is TAX FREE !!! g8 go ahread

You have choosen SBI Magnum Taxgain as one of the best tax saving fund in ELSS category. Fidelity is now doubt, on of the biggest fund house in the world but new in India. Fidelity Tax advantage is a new Fund and got launch recently in Jan 06 so need to avoid at present.
Remember the 1st Resolution of the writer and be careful in future about investing in NFOs . I will suggest you to invest in HDFC Taxsaver which is another good pick in ELSS category.

after reading the article by Mr. matai and further queries on ELSS answered by Mr. siddique, I as an advisor, a fresher in the field, am feeling more confident about investment advise I make to my client. Since some of the resolutions coincides with my understanding it gives me a confirmation that I m learning my lessons well so far

use of abbreviations
by drmnj on Jan 07, 2007 05:04 PM  Permalink

I found difficult in reading through as the author has used abbreviations like NFO,PE,NAV. as a newcomer to this field and trying to get some tips, I found it hard.

Re to Mr. Prasad
by Shripad on Jan 04, 2007 02:22 PM  Permalink

No, I don't agree with Mr. Prasad. He misused his words. Where to invest & where not to invest is purely on case to case basis and how do one expect that they (author of this article, who I believe must be a part of some Financial Institute like, personalfn) will give you the exact advice at no cost. Catch somebody and give them some carrot sir. Try to understand sir....!!!

Mr. Venkatesh please look into the net amount that you are getting after 20 years, not in terms of money but in terms tax which you have to pay to the governemt as in some cases, it touches 33 % also. bhoslepramod@gmail.com
