Indeed it is a pleasure and inspiration to read such articles. Though it is bounden duty of print media and news channels to carry all reports, hardly we find positive ones. The negative ones, sensationalized are extension of gossips. Request to all media to give more weightage to such achievements. Let us salute real heroes.
Thanks for making us all realise, our own people potentials. You are doing a great job. Pl send your email add or the web site were we can read about these new developments.
For quite a few years now this initiative has been underway and I have been studying it with great interest. It is really sad that apart from a few sporadic articles and media coverage the average Indian is quite shocking unaware of both, how many such efforts are happenning and how one can use it as well as help strengthen it. As always only when Oxford, MIT or Harvard (i.e. outside India) is it recognised that India takes note and even then in a very nonchalant manner. It has happenned with spirituality, with vegetarianism, with Yoga, with sitar and now with knowledge! Only when the AVERAGE Indian realises what our country has to offer, it's potential and gives it a committment to nurture it, only then there may be some hope. Till such time, we should just stop blaming the government for everything, including our lack of interest.
I would like to contact the author of this article and would like some contact information of Anil Gupta. Is there anyway I can get in touch with him and discuss my input to his lovely efforts?
Great work by Mr Gupta. In India we have great talents but due to lack of opportunity it's not able to come out.People like Mr Gupta should be encouraged by Goverment since in today's mrkt innovation is the key.
Hi This article shows that useful and productive knowledge can be generated not only in hitech IT and Biotech indistries but also in the rural hinterland, its a goldmine there and all it needs is some enterprising diggers!!

D. Agashe. B.Tech., PGDBM. Nashik. To. Respected Shri.Dr.A.Jagadeesh, Subject: Whither Rural Innovators? Read the list of your inventions/inovations on the net. I didnot know the detail scheme of individual invention but what ever I could imagine, it seems to be a great achievement. Congratulations to you sir. I would be pleased to know more details about these inventions, if possible. D.Agashe.
I read with interest about the innovators from rural India and their innovations.I am a disciple of late Prof.Y.Nayudamma who brought in paradigm shift in the science and technology when he was Director General of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research during 70's. The Concept of TECHNOLOGY WITH A HUMAN FACE advocated by Mahatma Gandhiji and Dr.E.F.Schumacher's philosophy of SMALL IS BEAUTIFUL has still great relevance to developing countries like ours especially in rural areas. Through "Nayudamma Centre for Development Alternatives"which I founded in Nellore,Andhra Pradesh I have several inventions like Simple Solar Drier,Everybody's Solar Water Heater,Energy Saving in Electric Pumpsets,Pedal operated Battery charger,Pedal operated washing machine,Clay covers to reduce heat in concrete buildings, Device to drive the motor cycle when it is punctured,Air-cum water cooler,Fire proof Apron, Periscope to avoid accidents while overtaking vehicles ,Innovative Solar Disinfection of water etc., ,The efforts of TePP,DSIR; National Innovation Foundation, Rural Innovations Network in supporting Innovative ideas and projects is laudable.
Is there something called "informal" science in India? I've always been under the impression that science is science. Maybe what he intened to mean was that these village folks did not have any 'formal' educaton in science? As for "big" innovations, well...err, the less said, the better.
