Govt. need to remove the ban immediately and take necessary action to improve the quality of ground water

Govt. need to remove the ban immediately and take necessary action to improve the quality of ground water. Use of pesticide should be monitered and there should be an insurance for the corps. As there is nothing such can assure the farmer in the view of any attack from the pest, he tends to be overcautious and using enormous amount of pesticide. Many are done as a preventive measure. So first of all Govt. should take action in improving the ground water quality and then talk about the contents of the drinks like coke & pepsi. This is really affect the credibility of the Govt. in the west and FDI will reduce.

I request these organisations to be less hypocritique and dont seek fame by releasing the reports on the pretext of making people aware. Let them release a study on the milk, fruits and vegetable we use. Let them release the report on the water we drink.

Ban on Coke and Pepsi is really immoral and no justified. Though i dont prefer to drink these , i strongly object these unilateral actions by State Govt.

Why do they use the ground water directly ?

They can process the water using the latest technology that is available. We are not requesting them to eliminate it completely . We just want to bring down the parts per million of poison that is present in the water used for manufacturing cola .

As long as liquor and other harmful substance like cigarrates, Pan Masala etc are not banned ban on pepsi and coke is totally uncalled for at the best warning about contents should be printed on bottles.

ban is justified because one step towards good thing some day has to be started by somebody. warningn on bottles will not surve any purpose because on ciggs. the warning is there but consumption is increasing daily. Its baba Ramdev type effort will do good thing to this human society.

Are you paid by Pepsi and Coke
by Naveen Aysola on Aug 14, 2006 06:52 PM  Permalink

Are you getting paid by Cola guys?
It's plain and simple. Cola giants have to give the people all details on the amount of pesticide in their drinks and how it would effect my grandchildren.
How much quantity is dangerous and how much quantity if consumed is okay.
They should come out with details on how they have polluted the ground waters in Kerala.
Mothers milk is mandatory for infants. Coke and Pepsi are not mandatory for today's youth. Vegetables are mandatory for all Indians. To survive, we can take a bit of pesticide along with them.
Coke and Pepsi have no nutritional value. Hence there is no reason for pesticides in them.
Your argument is futile and naive. Your arguement is based on how it will effect the economy and not on health.
Like "Cigarette smoking kills", Coke and Pepsi should give the guidelines and the effects of Cola drinking and in quantities consumed.
Please go and do some "humane research" before writing articles like these.

Coke ,Pepsi and Pest
by Ratheesh on Aug 14, 2006 06:51 PM  Permalink

It is completely unjustified. The organisation which tested Coke and Pepsi should take a sample of rice distributed thru PDS ration shops in Kerala and get the same tested , not for pesticides , but for PESTS.

Why not ?
by srinivas on Aug 14, 2006 06:50 PM  Permalink

Why should we not Ban pepsi and coke ?? is it because we are yet Biased to products just because they are global players and that too after nearly 60 Years of Independence??

What happened when in the name of Quality indian products made fromMylon were banned in the US ? we did not even whimper and now we are yelling abotu this no brainer ??

If Coke and Pepsi can cleanse the water that they claim is from natural resources effectively then so be it, let them sell as much they want to. We Indians have opened up so much to the world and let them into our lives but if you get into the integral part of the system and commit a action that kills it then you are "Parasite".

Let them do their research and give us quality stuff and ofcourse we will accept it! A last point to ponder id this were to happen in their home country some bloke would sued there bottoms off for a coll few millions.

Kerala Government
by Sa on Aug 14, 2006 06:38 PM  Permalink

Incidently, the mentioned state government is looking for foreign investment - for a marina at Allepy! I would love to see what kind of bids does that attract now..not just foreign but domestic as well. Who wants to go invest in a state where the due process of the law is held hostage to the whims to two bit politicians!

On a different note - I am no consumer of Coke or Pepsi.. dont drink the stuff. A word of sdvice to those who love to guzzle the fizzy stuff... the 8 spoons of sugar in the bottle will kill you way before the pesticide begins to kick in!
