From the recent controversy, fwg things are clear:
a) Cola companies have done nothing over the last 3 years to control the pesticide level in their drinks. They, perhaps, think, they can get away with whatever they do, being MNCs. b) It is very obvious the water they use is contamina- ted in most parts of India and they are getting undue exposure for no fault of their own. Perhaps, this problem is not being faced by them elsewhere in the world. c) If they want to continue doing business in India, they will have to first "treat" the water before starting the production to limit such pesticide residues. d) As expected, the cola companies are bringin press- ure thro' the back door by having the US Government drop hints that further investment may not come to India. I feel the Indian Government should not buckle under pressure as the health of an entire future generation is at stake.
Is our young generation fool? No I do not feel so, it is the over confidence and illusion which brings them under the trap of so call marketing strategies otherwise our mature young people, though they are few but percentage are increasing, who are conscious about their health and they do not use these aerated waters in their toilets even. Aware people who keep their finger on news are fully aware about the fungus and even once the condom was found in their sealed bottle. Insects were found in Cadburys chocolate. It is ironical that an icon like Amitabh Bachchan came for their rescue for just few bucks to brainwash our Indian people so that our children should start once again chewing the junk food, which is basically a slow poison. It is a shame for such a living legend to whom we people worship. Now it is enough, our young educated people should come to fight for such products and the campaigner be they are Amitabh Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, Kareen Kapoor or any Tom, Dick and Harry. We should not respect to those people who are basically acts like enemies and exploit the innocent sentiments. YES THESE SHOULD BE BANNED STRCTLY, IF IT IS DONE OFFICIALLY, OUR PEOPLE SHOULD DO
YES, absolutely. Generally public think the following: 1. Though it may be debatable that these so called Cold Drinks contains health hazard contaminations (pesticides, harmful chemicals etc.) or not but what price the consumers pay for buying these aerated drinks are alarming. The average price is Rs. 30.00 to Rs. 35.00 / Litre. But what is the worth? As to whether the consumers are getting any nutritious value, rather they are buying health hazard drinkable. Every sensible person can compare the price and nutritious substance with general drinkable like fruit juice, milk, milk products etc. Any doctor or nutritionist and even good books can confirm it. Out of the total money the consumers pay, major percentages (more than 90% goes to huge profits for companies; huge salaries to their Top Executives after all they make fool to general public, this is the reason that they are called as best marketing professionals; and huge payment to so called our Film Stars who mesmerise the public. 2. Strange, our FICCI, ASCHOEM etc. shout to support them for their vested interest. Mr. Mitra / Poddar, be ethical and atleast be human after all you are brothers / citizens.
I feel that soft drink brand owners should offer unconditional guarantees that all batches of their products are free from pesticide residues. The technology for such protection of consumer interest exists in the form of Reverse Osmosis. However, they should not be persecuted without due process of law. CSE's sampling and reporting methods are sensationalist but invalid.
