Its very unfortunate that the organizations which test colas for pesticide content does not do the same with vegetables and fruits. The pesticide content in vegetables and fruits are far greater than that in Pepsi or coke and no one seems to care.Even pesticide content in milk is alarmingly high. The colas donot 'add' pesticides in their products. The pesticide content comes from the water which is used for making colas.Believe it or not,the pesticide content is in the ground water, not in colas. The excessive usage of pesticides by the farmers have contaminated the groundwater to alarming proportions. The real threat is elsewhere, banning colas is not going to do any good. The government should wakeup to the facts and act accordingly.
Apparently, it is not clear on what basis the governments have banned the softdrinks. But, if it is the issue of pesticide contamination, then, possibly Cola and Pepsi are the safest drinks in India that you are drinking. The amount of pesticide in any other drinks like water, milk, fuit juices, tea and coffee are thousand times higher. Especially, tea contains at least 30,000 time higher amount of pesticide than cola and pepsi. The sentiment here works to see Cola and Pepsi as MNCs, but they are doing their business within the law of India, right?
Finally goverments at the center and state have waken up. It was high time something like this concrete steps shud have taken place. In European countries the same companies follow strict norms but in India it is "CHALTA HAI KINDA" attitude. Ban this totally. Let the next generation have a healthy growing.
It is evident now that the govenrment(including state government) has gone crazy!!! Why doesn't the government check food grains(sugar, wheat, rice), fruits and water supply from muncipalities/corporation? I am sure that results would be terrible!! Communist "commies" and congress-socialists with their "myopic vision" are surely going to ruin whatever remains of India.
good.....expecting some action on Milk/Vegetables and Mineral water....these three products available in India not good and contains very dangerous chemicals...
As always instead of trying to fix the core issue the government is giving a solution that will have no bearing on our health or the amount of unnecessary chemicals we intake unknowingly. No one should have any doubt that you would find the same level of pesticides and other chemicals in the bottles water you drink, in the vegatables and cereals that you eat. I am sure that if we test the food and beverages in any average restaurant in our country you would still end up with all these chemicals. I am no fan of the colas, but banning them will make no difference to our citizens. The only way out is to regulate/ban all the fertilizers and pesticide use in our country. But I guess our rulers don't have the will or the energy to even think of that. We are still happy to use deadly chemicals and take banned medicines as we don't see any apparent danger. Ingnoance is not an alibi.
This move just shows that we inidans are not blind,But we should consider this as a start and continue with much increase in pace. We should not spend our money for poisoning us.. 3 Kudose to the Govnmnts...
Our state of affairs is in such a bad shape that everybody has overlooked the fundamental problem of pesticide pollution in our ground water. Instead of making the ground water pollution free, govt has resorted to victimising cola companies. There is no doubt that cola companies are at fault, but who is the bigger culprit?

Exactly..Groundwater/vegetables/fruits/milk..that are the things we consume daily has far higher pesticide content than the colas..when will the govt and the public wakeup?
requests the Govt should take the opinion of leading World wide experts so that such act will be eliminated totallt and innocent younger generation is saved from consuming the soft drinks. TOTAL BAN IS TO ENFORCED
its great to hear that the state has banned cola. But no govt is ever ready to ban alcohol in their state because they get a big turn over every. All the alcohol product (like rum brandy wiskhy gen etc) are all very much injurious to health. But we can see that now a days even big sign boards are also comming up. And also these alcohol are also addictive as equal to drugs. So if one starts using if repeats it. So please think IF COLA IS BANED THEN ALL ALCOHOL PRODUCYS SHOULD ALSO BE BANNED.
