If the current reservations are slap against centuries tyranny of Brahmins, then if you are a Man go kill every muslim for their merciless killings of millions of Hindus for 6 centuries. well, after having gone thru all the posts i cud find a couple of ppl in favour of reservation(i like to call it Share) for OBCs while the rest were just against it, not surprisngly, those who oppose it are upper castes. well if upper castes think they are the most intelligent ppl in the world, then i just want to tell them give OBCs a chance , the result will automatically show who is intelligent and meritorious, what the hell is this bloody "Merit" in india after all? no indian scientist(mostly upper castes) have done anything worthwhile , they just cut copy and paste from the works of foreign scientists, what has IIT and IIM given to india, these are just status symbols,which satisfy the ego of upper caste ppl,thats all , one last thing , if USSR which had some 20 races cud not stay united , forget about india being united and becoming a super power(which is a bloody myth, india can never become a super power as long as Caste system is alive) , india has to be divided along the lines of caste, its only a matter of time before every caste starts demanding their share.

we also want that gap to be bridged that is income level, poorer from any caste/religion, should be uplifted, and not alone one family of obcs who will keep benefitting and exploiting this policies.
once a person avails reservation, his generation should be lifted to main stream. Else he will not leave chance to poor sections of his own community to develop.

Reservation should be less than 5% and for only physically /other hadicapped people. In India, even the son of a Rolls Roy driving father who is OBC gets free seat on OBC scheme while roaming around, spending father's money after getting 35% while a student walking on a worn chappal, studies for 20 hrs a day does not get a seat after getting 90% even though 90% is the really maximum achievable score.
Have you ever seen a guy who is given million dollar free saying no even though he already has million dollars. He would not say no so is the guy who has no money with him. Just as both the guys would say thank you to the one who gave them million dollars, OBcs are voting for politicos playing games with them.
It is time to wake up and stand united with your fellow students and not succumb to such cheap tactics.

Abishek, i guess ur wrong to claim that all those who spk against reservation are because they are upper caste. If the question is that OBC;s and SCT's are poor, then lets have reservation based on economically backward as this wud cover all without being branded as backward by caste. Again, if the argument is that because this ppl are poor, they can't afford to study, then give them free education, but based on merit. Just because ur from a backward class u shud not have the leberity to be less intelgient and still be a doctor. This is like an attempt to correct social injustice, by doing more injustice. If ur are inteligient enough but economically backward then the govt shud provide free education, free food and free everything, but no compromise on merit. If the politicans were seriously concerned about the poor, then they would focused on these things rather than to find short cut to appease the ppl and cover up their failures. Freebies will only make u dependent not independent. The last thing would be, to tell my son/daugther, 'u have excelled in ur exams but ur neighour gets the seat because he/she is from a backward caste although rich.'
The Upper Castes should be educated on the following: 1)The Caste System is the biggest social crime in human history. 2)There is no parallel in such humiliating disrimination for such a long period of time(severeal millenia)anywhere in the world.
3)There is absolutely no justification in the Hindu scriptures for the Caste System as has been practised and is being practised today. 4)True merit surfaces only when all in the group have had equal opportunities to acquire this so called merit.The difference in educational and income levels of the FCs & backward classes is too wide to be bridged without reservation.
1. Change reservation policy from caste based to economic need. Nobody is against poor people improving their lot. However, RICH OBC's are exploiting the system for thei benefit. 2. eliminate religion based reservation. Or else we can all become christians/muslims to use this system. 3. What do you expect when you elect Congress?
We get to read all one sided stories and opinions. Satirical posts on forums about quota in Cricket and toilets only prove further how irrational and apathetic some uppercaste people are to real issues. I read posts calling BCs beggars. Can we expect anything good to come out of such low thinking and sick minded evenif educated upper caste people ever? These are the real real backward caste of our society. These are mentally backward, selfish, casteist people who deserve expulsion from our county. These are ones who are inflaming misguiding the protesting students and must be thrown-out. Most of them in their future will taunt, mistreat and insult their BC colleagues no matter what. Many of them will teach similar hatred to their children against BCs. Just goto districts nearby cities. News of BC students barred from going to schools and lowercast girls stripped and raped by uppercast goons are common. Without helping hand of quota system what chance weak BC people have against such biased people? The quota system has failed in last 50 yrs because there is much hidden, subconscious and implicit bias against it. The uppercaste outcry infact makes case for quotas further stronger.

It is really disappointing to see police behavior on medical student.Why these political reserve their party's presidency seat reseave for Dalits.Every time, Neharu'decendenant(Also a elit and upper cast) take charge of congress presidency seat.

I dont think the police action was enough to be dissapointed or grieve for. These students who dont hav any sense of wat they r doing and where the country actually stands, had to be punished this way. Their method of protest was not at all upto democratic standards. Just watching the violence in movies like Rangdebasanti or bhagatsingh is one of the reason y this youth gets so much irresponsible. They forget the status of our democracy in world. These r the students that dont even know the statastics of country but want to be overnight heros. They r only selfish, leav aside the idea of India's future, divide in society and caste-less society etc. differces cant be overlooked. And anyway if this was a cruel action of police, wat do u call it when the police fires bullets in the heads of Dalits whenever they do any protest, be it on even a smallest level, and kill small kids who r not even part of any campaign. With that standards I have to say police has been as kind as possible, way within the frame of law. And yes, the reservations in political parties.. there r reservations in parliament too. But political parties r not the govt. they form part of public.

Constitution enabled equality and has tried to end this mindless and humiliating treatment of backward caste. The quota system has failed in last 50 yrs because there is so much of hidden, subconscious and implicit bias against it. Whats wrong with upper caste mindset? Those crying foul in the name of merit are hypocrites. Most of them will leave India after they finish their degrees. Protesting upper class must remember that the India historically and demographically belongs to lower class people as much as they do. Racism in West and Casteism in India are two sides of same coin. Outcry in Media makes a thing clear that if quotas had not been in place, the backward caste had been suppressed and humiliated even today.
