To cut a long story short, the Govt must review its policy on reservations after obtaining an honest and detailed report whether or not the quota system has really succeeded in uplifting those for whom it was meant, or whether it has only been exploited by Govt and non-Govt vested interests. It must be emphasized that MERIT must not be compromized in the entire issue of reservations & quotas, which is pulling the country backwards. On the other hand, the actual downtrodden & have nots MUST be given incentives which both facilitate their education as well as stimulates them for upliftment. They should not end up as beggars, asking for the crutches of reservations and quotas, which kills the natural desire to learn & excel. The society must remove the evil of upper & lower castes, and in no way treat any human being as being different from himself or herself just on the basis of his or her family tree.
Such government policies - reservation, quota - are mainly to cover up for collective political failure and ineptitude to address issues of backward classes. Government should work on providing access to better education / opportunities to these section of society so that they are equipped to compete against the rest at higher levels. And then, may the deserving candidate win!!!
It was good to read a well thought and well written article. I totally agree with it. Is there any statistics generated to see the affects of reservation?
1. it should be for one generation only -that is if father is getting the benefit sons should not get it. because if its given generation after generation then there will be another class - rich backward class who will deprieve the poor backward , unfortunately this is already happening. most quota is being occupied by well to do fmilies.
2. government should not stamped any one as backward its an insult to his fore father. its like giving alms in the name of qouta. learn to live with pride.
3.purpose of quota was to help brilliant among the poor ,who are deprived of education. not to make a rich and fool person -a king. give scholarship , books ,free tution but dont give the job of life guard to a person who cannot swim , in the name of quota - he will fail to save as well as he will kill himself. 4. stop this divide and rule policy.
All leaders advocating for reservation are humbly requested to vacate their Parliamentary seats for SC/ST/OBC candidates for their better upliftment Dont use reservation for your political motives.Now all other casts should come together against these politicians.
The politicians are crooks;they will spoil the whole country.India is a poor country,unless the country is managed well it cannot prosper. The next demand will be that women are oppressed class and there should be 50% reservation for them. A Senior Citizen
Why cant the caste system be dissolved and just economical system evolve so that india is united and dicisions are fair as per the need.Let all the needy get bread and shelter.Let all of us be under one room.Let no one say he belongs to big caste or small caste we cant be friends."These caste people were actully for generations were slaves and we were rulers ", forgetting that whole india was a slaves for britishers.Let us share our customs and get married within any caste.Let no one say that their caste is of labours and cleansers and our ancestors were pujaris and kshatriya. First thing about being an indian i observed one indian first looks at the caste before deciding to mingle with, thats the agony today.The harrassment in terms of castism has not left any job sector. Why ? When ? will indians grow mature and behave neutral.ITs a very sad thing about our system.Can there be any solution to it. Let there be no reservations but let the caste system get dissolved and anyone who says i am from this caste you are from which caste be looked down upon.economically back ward class/people let them be given help.
