reservation in IIT-IIM
by kalpana on Apr 11, 2006 10:43 AM  Permalink

It is very sad for Indian that after 58 years of independent, our leader's playing VOTE bank politics. they never thought about INDIA .if they thought that reservation for S.C. /S.T. /O.B.C. are necessary for them .The reservation should start from top level i.e. from President of INDIA, Prime minister, cabinet member, Lok sabha, Rajya sabha, state lagislative, and other political post as like reservation in Rajasthan in PANCHAYAT level, and than they can thought about educational institutes, because like IIT/IIM educational educational are prestigious of INDIA. The politician will not do so, because they never want bright future of S.C. /S.T. /O.B.C. persons but they want their VOTE. everyone know that laps of more than 8 years they can't pass WOMEN'S RESERVATION BILL .they playing with FIRE ,one day THE FIRE also damage them, it is UNIVESAL TRUTH that FIRE not different between faithful and other person.

Political Issue
by Kalyan on Apr 11, 2006 10:42 AM  Permalink

Reservation is more of a political issue. I fail to understand why social upliftment should be caste based rather than economy based. In any case the growth of one person should never be at the expense of another.

Let us live and let live. All Indians should have opportunity to grow independant of caste, creed or religion. No one's life/career/education should be denied based on caste reservation or otherwise. In fact they should not ask for a person's caste in any application form. Let the government instead provide scholarships to financially poor students for equal opportunity.

Otherwise India will never be able to compete on a Global market.

quota for politicians in parliments.
by Sandesh on Apr 11, 2006 10:42 AM  Permalink

If politicians are so interested in quotas everywhere, why should not be there a quota for parliments? Then they can understand the pain of quota system causing to non beneficiaries.
India will have a very black future due to all these policies leading to civil war.

What should middle class do???
by Tushar on Apr 11, 2006 10:41 AM  Permalink

Reservation of OBC's of 27% taking total to 49.5%. Now a middle class person who earns only 2-2.5 lakhs of salary per annum, where will his merit son/daughter study??? I think with this reservation being a middle-class in this country is a crime. You should either be rich or belong to SC/ST/OBC's.
Also the government is eager to push ahead the reservation, "What about Women Reservation in Parliament???" Why is their double standard followed. Also if you want women reservation in parliament, politicans want to increase seats to accomodate them then why not the same for IIT's and IIM's.
If the middle-class can't get education here they should go abroad on scholarships and forget this country, " This country which cannot give even basic fundamentals like education is a not a democatric country". Please remove it from the constitution.
Its high time for more brain drain and don't come back to this country.

Strongly encourage the Reservation.
by Prasanna on Apr 11, 2006 10:08 AM  Permalink

I Strongly encourage the Reservation system irrespective of the institution. This does not mean a dumb candidate is observed. Set the cutoff mark to high so get quality students. Give oppurtunities to all student citizens. Give scholorship to poor students. I remember my school friend who scored 96% in standard 12 board exam with centum in maths & physics did not apply for the IIT entrance exam just because his father did not have the potential to spend 500 rupees to buy even the application form.He finally landed up in a government science college and graduated in physics with 87%. He is now setttled as a sales man earning around 7000 rupees a month. Don\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t u think this is unfair?

Reservation
by V.Panchapakesan on Apr 11, 2006 10:06 AM  Permalink

An academic degree or certificate is an expression of a measured academic level like one expresses the temperature in terms of degrees.Equating academic levels based on considerations other than knowledge and performance is as illogical as considering 100 Degrees Fahrenheit is the same as 100 degrees Celsius.

Reservation should be standardised.!!
by Chris John on Apr 11, 2006 10:05 AM  Permalink

I was wondering, what the reaction would be of the "Khdar Dhari's" if the same ratio of reservation is proposed for the seats in the Parliament.!!!
