I agree with sgpal. Having born in forward caste is a sin by the ministry. Our fore-fathers has expected that there should be a casteless society and we all respect them. But by proclaiming always about the caste, few senior people in our country do not allow us create a caste-less society.
Fellows who study at IIT & IIM with the public money will talk nonsense that they do not get adequate chance at India for development and settle down at US. Let the reservation be implemented and the poor also study and improve India unlike the upper class who study only to develop US.
Sir: Announcement of reservation is another form of retaining the ministership for next election. In my opinion all the students should be given equal opportunity; free books, fees reduction, scholarships, special coaching, free hostel stay etc may be provided to economicaly weaker sections of the society. But making an amendment to reserve seats in all sections of the activities is a very dangerous move. One way we want bring up our nation to the top of the world map by improving the infrastructure, quality of life, etc. But the reservation policy may stop our dreams to make our country THE NUMBER ONE IN THE WORLD. My point is why should there be a reservation at all? I do not find any answer to this question. If you have one please let me know!
We all know that India is a very fast developing country,but the most dangerous aspect of our country is politics.India is still a poor country & the majority of the inhabitants are of backward casts.So it is a big factor for the politicians in election.Therefore they always try hard to impress the backward cast people,thus damaging the internationally recognized indian talent as the scope is further reduced for the poor but really talented upper cast students,who actually need that kind of support from the Govt.But it doesn't happen,neither it'll happen in near future. At last I want to say that there should be no reservation for merit,all the guys,quallified for IIMs or IITs or any other should overcome the same barrier level & after that there can be financial scholerships for those who really need it,that is how our country can develope must faster..This is my message.
Your comment "chances of economic upliftment for the people who are at the bottom of the economic ladder" is incorrect to the level that the reservations are NOT based on economic level but the caste/religions. This is high time getting confused in both of these as we already have rich people from backward sounding castes enjoying the fruits of reservations at multiple generations and junctures in life, only to hinder other fellows of the lesser riches in that caste. Other than this glitch I agree with you with my heart and thank you to express views of many in us within this article.
This is the high time to bring an ordinance to convert rest of all other casts into SCs and STs! How is the idea? No issues for any nonsense, after all what is there in the name? ..and the cast too. Our heroes in politics will get more votes without costing any thong to nation. they have simply burnt the future of nation for last so many years!!!
