IIMs hike to around 12% is the result of pressure coming from various bodies. Today IIMs receive enough funds for trhe fuinctioning and hence this act of uniformnisation of fees acrross IIMs sound to be a only digestible point here. Otherwise it has miniscular effect on students as compared to their future.
I'd like to point out an error in the article. As far as I know, there are only 6 IIMs (Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Indore, Kozhikode and Lucknow).
You have mentioned something about IIM Chennai in this article. I would like to remind all that such an institute does not exist. Such a grave error is not expected from a highly reputed organization like rediff
