Well done Patel!
by Karishma on Oct 25, 2005 09:20 AM  Permalink

Patel seriously is living up to all expectations.he is being strong about the decisions he wants, and Indian aviation looks to be already on the hot trail.
His allegiance to Jet Airways is irrelevant, because even today, if India can boast of any one airline that can compete with any airline of the world, it has to be Jet Airways.
Cheers and kudos to your hard work Praful Patel, i guess the icing on the cake would be the start of the much-delayed but awaited Mumbai and Delhi airport privatisations.

Flights are for passengers, not for governments
by Aravind Nair on Oct 25, 2005 07:44 AM  Permalink

The paragraph about the failed negotiations with Singapore was rather puzzling. First of all, what is the point in limiting the number of flights when the demand for seats far exceeds the supply? Second, what is the point of " ...than give away an onwards flight business India could make use of later."? Has any Indian carrier made use effectively the lucrative Kerala-South-east Asia route?

Silkair, the regional subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, makes money by flying all 7 days a week (to Trivandrum and Cochin). Starting from Nov 1, they will have 12 flights a week to Kerala. Even then, we can't get affordable tickets. The peak period charge is S$1010 (almost Rs. 26,000), for a 4-hour flight. Compare this to a Singapore-San Francisco two-way ticket that can be got for less than S$1000 - a more than 17 hour flight one way. We can't blame any airline for this - it is a result of the short-sighted "socialistic" policies of the Govt. of India that create artificial scarcity.

Please bear in mind that means of transportation exist for fare-paying passengers, and any suffocating control over that by governments is tantamount to curtailing the basic right of freedom of movement.

patel rocks
by Rahul on Oct 24, 2005 09:39 PM  Permalink

Patel's Ministery is only ministery which is showing performance in UPA govt, i remember Mr.Priminister alloted 20 Min for presentation to Mr.Patel, was he so impressed he extended it to 1 hour.

We cannot compare Pawar with Patel, Agri sector does not show dramatic results in such a short time.

praful Patel--?
by Er Singh SD on Oct 24, 2005 09:27 PM  Permalink

Hello Sir,
Infact Praful has come out of the shadow of Sharad Pawar unlike many other intelligent persons who always followed Pawar\'s directions.Pawar may had good days but that is the thing of past and he won;t again regain his that status. He will have to follow the dictum of others who take right decisions. Now Pawar will find it quite difficul to counter Vilas Rao Deshmukh,Narayan Rane,Paraful Patel, even his nephew is better than Pawar.Secondly Pawar should forget to dream about being PM of India. He is well past his best.
