Trade unions are spoilsport of any industry.Take example of Kerala ( Union's own country!!!)West bengal are most under devoleped states.stikes & bhands are a great loss to the nation.Think of the bad name we projected to the world by HONDA stike. NO WAY UNION SHOULD COME TO ANY INDUSTRY LEAVE ALONE IT!!
It is really heartening to read that almost all have voiced against Unions in IT Industry. It shows the signs of maturity in the readers / ITians. But something missed to be understood is that these socalled Unions have not started just like that. It all started when there was rampant suppression against the labours. The present plight is due to the reasons that the unions have fallen into the hands of selfish elements. One canot deny the good things done by the unions in the past. The people should not assume that everything is right in the IT Industry. There is exploitation in this industry too. Only silverline is that there is quick scope for job switching and people dont have time to fight with bad management.
Employers in India's IT industry has been meeting the needs of the employees to the extent possible and the compensation package is based on demand and supply factors.
Trade Unions do not have a role to play when employer is meeting the needs of the employees. In fact globalisation has been driving trade unions in a reverse gear in a number of countries.
Under such circumstances, we need not drive trade unions in any gear other than reverse gear, unless, we drive LPG (liberalisation, privatisation and globalisation) in reverse gear. In fact socialistic economic system/ pattern of economic system and trade unions go together.
Hence, we need not have trade unions in India's IT industry at present.
What on the hell has these trade unions has done. To mky knowledge nothing just a big zero. what they have achieved so far is how to develop a strike in no matter of time. I just want a ANTI TRADE UNION software, so that the IT sector can grow and develop. My message to all please do pray and vote against these trades. Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee>
Trade unionists such as socialist parties believe in distribution of poverty. IT industry is a child of the capitalistic economy. Both won't go hand in hand. One will have to leave. This will lead to the transfer of jobs to south american countries and china, where the situations will be even worse.
Moreover Indian Trade unions are not mature enough to form a code of conduct to deal with IT Industry. It is the pay checks that IT professional earn, that interests Trade Unionists
Yes because some famous companies such as the on in Trivandrum, that deal with airline software hire people, make them sign bonds(3 years) and do not pay the agreed amount. When people ask about their money after 2 years (after working 20 hrs per day), they are shown the door. So the workers in these sort of companies need a voice which can address their
No, because every trade union in India is governed by a group of un-educated lazy, money hungry lots. They will be more interested in getting money and not in interests of IT workers.
This is going to be a disaster for IT industry if any Union forms. We have seen the worst in the state of Bengal because of these so called Unions. Frequent strikes are no good for the industry as well as for the employees. This will send a negetive impression to the world and adversely affect our flourishing IT industry. In recent past every Indian company used to think again and again before they setup a branch in Bengal because of the strikes and Unionism, now the world will think the same way. Bengal CM, Mr. Bhattacharya is now leading the state towards prosperity and every thoughtful Indian, especially Bengalees are admiring that. This CITU is a spoilt Brat and trying to be a bottleneck for the advancement of this state andd industry.
History speaks for TUs. Trade unions made West Bengal and Kerala a wasteland for jobs. Millions of textile workers lost their jobs, livelihood and all else thanks to Trade unions. Indian unskilled and semi-skilled youth get only wretched / poverty level jobs thanks to Trade union imposed stifling labour laws.
Ofcourse, the TUs aim is to stop creation of the only decent jobs in India for 400 million Indian youth so they can live in poverty and wretched conditions while millions are lifted off poverty in china.
Spare the small companies please - It is the large ones like Wipro that have systematically changed the programmers into slaves .... all this in the name of "aggressive targets". Dime a dozen times, programmers have been forced to skip lunch, work till 2:00 AM in the night and return next day @ 9:00 AM. Some programmers were fired for asking vacation to enjoy the leave that would lapse at year end. While the company's slogan is "with utmost respect to human values we promise to serve the customer...", it has no absolutely no mechanism or desire to control the slavery. I dont believe conditions are any better in any of the other IT companies. A union is most welcome.
