The economic problems Kerala & its govt face have all been there for a while & nothing new. Karunakaran was becoming too big for the party; the political dramas that were staged by him with his son & daughter are too fresh in the people's mind & has only done damage to the party; And since no one will doubt Left will come to power next year as the routine 5 year power rotation continues in Kerala, it was the right time for the party to show him the door and groom some fresh alternative to the Karunakaran-Antony leadership. Chandy happens to be the most popular man at least within the Congress party in Kerala for the Cm's job at the moment.
you did not mention what karunakaran did. he is not a saint, not a person who did something to the people of kerala. he shamelessly wanted to make his son the cm and his daughter another minister. who else on earth will say he is good other than you? chandy\'s policy may not be good as a politician, but he is a good man, a strict man. of course a strict man cannot survive in politics. anthony is nothing but a useless fellow who should have become a priest. he does not do any good to the country,and of course not to him. karunakaran will do anything to make his son and daughter somebody in the govt. how on earth can somebody tolerate them if you see clearly what they have done recently after chandy become the cm? i am dissappointed by reading your article, misinterpreting the facts. even the smartcity plan is in trouble due to the stupidness of the ldf. opposition has to be creative in criticism. if they do not allow the govt to do anything with the support of those foolish people of kerala who does not see the facts, what can be done?
Anyway outing of Karunakaran and his son from Congress Party is good for Party and State. Now Congress can concentrate on State Affairs. It is a Good Decision for Congress for Long Run. VS Achuthanadan was also hugely Responsible for Industrial Backwardness of state
Hey i read your article, decline of kerala.That is true. But i want to challenege one of your comments since i am a keralaite. you have mentioned that hindu's will dump congress now since congress has kicked off karunakaran. I don't know whether you are a keralaite or from other parts of the country. Karunakaran never had a hindu basis like as you think. He was a hidu, that is true but he used to contest (always ) from Mala and Thrissur (both are heavily christian dominated constituencies) .He won with the votes of christians. Hindus esp lower cast usually support communists. Others doen not rally behind any one. In total the situation in kerala is entirely differnt from other states. The caste based voting is very less at least as far as i know. What i mean to say that the exit of karunakaran will not affect congress at all in the aspect what you mentioned.
