He is an ICON!!
by Nishant Rakesh on Jul 09, 2005 04:49 AM  Permalink

Thanks for publishing article on our icon. I have been in industry since last 4 years and have closely watched Vivek's moves. He restructured Wipro in verticals as part of making Wipro a process based company, which was expected from him as he was from GE. He is a real motivator for young managers as he never looked past and gave big targets to achieve. Nobody knows his calculations which he uses for choosing managers but he was almost always right. His decision making skills are something which all young managers look for. Businessworld published cover story on him when he restructured Wipro into verticals and which really changed the fortunes of Wipro and became $1.8 billion company.

We wish him best of luck in his new assignments and will keep watching him as he gives us directions for moves to play. He is really in world's top 25 who can change the dynamics of game.

Wipro....
by Prabhu Dev on Jul 08, 2005 07:38 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Premji owns about 87% of the company. 8 founders of Infosys own about 24% of the company and other Infosions own a good chunck. What this does is it builds the morale of the employees working in the company.

.....and that is why you don't see top guns leaving Infosys. Can you imagine Nandan leaving Infosys because he had conflict of intrest with Dinesh?

Knowing Premji, This is not the first time he is seeing this and definitely not the last time. But he knows how to handle these kinda of situations. But in a long run this is not good for Wipro. How many Sootha's or Paul's can you find out there? Not Many.

Absolutely right ! Soota was replace by almost an equal..
Paul has no replacement. Dunno what the most of the people at the top right now have achieved besides working 20 + yrs at Wipro..
