airport revamp plans
by shrikant on Jan 21, 2006 02:10 PM  Permalink

my dad worked on the airport modernis..activities in the initial stage for a MNC that has long back pulled out of the race.
where ever there is lot of capital involved there is bound to be blockage in the course of action of the smooth flow of activity.
lets hope the modernisation comes into effect soon as there are a number of problems to face once it commences

regarding modernising mumbai airport
by tylos lopez on Jan 14, 2006 05:06 PM  Permalink

im just a young guy who has stayed in mumbai from childhood till 2001. i used to frequently visit the airport as my dad who was residing in the gulf visited us for his vacations. also now im in the gulf since 2001 and i have travelled 12 times to india since that year till november 2005 which was my last trips. i've been to various other airports like abu dhabi , dubai and qatar while coming to mumbai by via flights. i just wanna say that our mumbai airport is not that in a bad state where it needs modernisation.I dont mean to say that it doesnt need any modernisations. It does but only in some spaces. The main cause for this is the staff and the officers working in the airport. the basic logic is we are having illiterate custom officers and also ground staff (NOT OF AIRLINES,MIND IT) who dont even know how to speak proper english. The toilets , i think the toilets in restaurants in india are much cleaner than that of the airports. Please for god sake have some pity on the expatriates who just wait eagerly to come back to their own country after such a long break of hard work , and alas! what do they see. the filth and shameless work of our fellow indians. v shud b the best of all.

The fact is that the Airports need to be modernized at Mumbai and Delhi ; the fact also is that these Airports are reaching saturation point and new greenfield airports are also necessary at both these cities . The Ministers have deflected decision making downwards to a COmmittee of Secretaries who in turn have deflected it to another techno commercial committee . Is this conducive to decision making ? But what else can our Government Authorities do when honest attempts to do something is looked at suspiciously by Vigilance Commissions . We are fated to suffer as passengers in our rotting crowded airports !!

But my airports are like Railway Station Toilets! And me and my people are not ashamed of it at all! I elect idiots who never do anything for poverty and hunger, then why should I worry about airport?

Sincerely
An Indian!
