The article makes us boost of IITians. As I am myself an IIT Delhi Passout ,I feel proud to be an IITian. We can do miracles. People are jealous of us,as we are the cream of the India.

Overhyped
by Rajesh on Dec 25, 2005 08:14 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I agree that the IITians have contributed agreat deal to India's image abroad but I think it is getting overhyped. They are made out to be the sole reason of India's IT success.

I know of of many many non-IITians who have contributed more than the IITians but do not get recognition that is due because of the hype in the media.I have also met IITians who I think were no better than the rest of the Indians here...

It is a good article. It can be made a better one
by Ravi Sankar Landu on Dec 21, 2005 05:39 PM  Permalink

This is really an excellent article, and the news of reunion is itself exciting.
The article said well about the Lake Powai, which has already been on the agenda of the people meeting on that day.
Rediff, being a media, can delve in to other such problems faced by mumbai and other places, as bring forth to the notice of veteran IITians.
Infact they can hugely expose any inadequacies related to human resources in India.
With this added, the article could be a complete one.

Thanks and regards,
Ravi Sankar Landu

Dear IIT'ens Follow the seniors
by Dr. Ashish Manohar Urkude on Dec 21, 2005 04:19 PM  Permalink

Dear All:

Follow the seniors, is what I can say for the payback issue. Of course, someone could give more than them, if they wish.

In every field what Indians needs from IITens are:

1. The Expertise i.e. "IIT = HBS + MIT + Princeton"
2. The Funds to develop Industry and Finance to develop Research facilities.

There are more such issues, which need wider discussion scope and platform.

Still, Congratulations to the batch of 1980s- IIT-Bombay. They have taken initiative and many such will be followed by the next batches.

Similarly, IIM, NIT, other MBA institutes must help the local schools and the colleges they learnt. So that the real Guru-Dakshina is worth enough to be remembered by all and must be followed by all, successive generations.

We did it with our school, college and city of birth and the institution we worked and the nation we worked. Though, we are not IITen still we did it for our institutes and organizations we were associated with, as much as we could.

Hope our next generations will follow the seniors, as we did.

Dr. Ashish Manohar Urkude
