be careful central govt!!!!
by Vaibhav on Aug 18, 2005 01:41 PM  Permalink

It's very finr than HRD is thinking to get more IIT's but the thing is whether those colleges deserve to be IIT !!!! I have been to AMU & BHU and they are way behind IIT stature...even IIT Roorkee is on a lower side to the existing IIT's reason being clear than it is a new one...

I would suggest, give these institutes some time..provide funds to grease their over-all machinery including academics.

Otherwise irrelevantly naming institutes as IIT's will degrade its UNIVERSAL NAME!!!

IT to IIT-V
by Brijesh Pandey on Aug 18, 2005 01:25 PM  Permalink

It was hard luck of IT-BHU that still it remains the same. I think now institute is destined to become IIT-V. With its outstanding standard and facilitiesit can match any of the existing IITs.

About the new IITs
by Rajesh on Aug 18, 2005 12:51 PM  Permalink

Both AMU & AHU deserves the coveted upgradation but I personally feel not for Osmania and Andhra university as still they need lot of improvements.Cochin university ia also a good choice.
The board should analyse each and every aspect regarding this issue as lot of students future relies on this reformation.Lets keep our fingers crossed and see the outcome!!!

The march of the new IITs
by Mitanshu Garg on Aug 18, 2005 12:44 PM  Permalink

I think that this would lower the status of IITs. The current brand of IIT will be lost if we have an IIT in every corner of the street.

I think that government should conduct a survey within all IITs and then take the most appropriate decision.

future IIT's
by midun.s on Aug 18, 2005 12:41 PM  Permalink

A great leap forward for upgrading the standard of education in Engineering stream. besides the center should also consider the plan for promoting such type of activities in the supposed alternative system of medicine, according to aliens, but is the main & effective and cheapest, and without out any side effects method.

Its ridiculous!
by Parida on Aug 18, 2005 12:29 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

May be they want to dilute the IIT system and it is another drive to make it ineffective. The expansion of the iit-type college is a good vision but the colleges selected for this doesn't seems to bear this vision. I'm surprised colleges like Zakir Hussain College of Engineering and Technology and College of Engineering and College of Technology, Osmania University- are considered for this. Most of the colleges are selected from WB and AP where congress has a govt and get supported at the center.

Dilution of standards
by Rishikesh on Aug 18, 2005 12:28 PM  Permalink

Well, another attempt to dilute the standards of IITs. Seventeen RECs and few other collges were re-branded as NITs.What did the government achieve.
