Ridiculous
by Girish on Aug 05, 2005 08:03 PM  Permalink

Just look at the logos of great tech companies like intel , IBM, Motorola and sun. This guy fooled the wipro management and charged them exhorbitant fees for that.

Totally disagree
by Rohit on Aug 05, 2005 04:34 PM  Permalink

HI,

i totally disagree with the explanation from Mr Sengupta as this logo is recognizable in the world cause of the hard work wipro had done and not for the Logo ... secondly there is no such faminine feeling in the rainbow colored logo. its just that now the wipro is big so the designer can describe that logo in anyway they want. apart from Wipro there are so many Big companies which have there logo simply writen that too in normal fonts still they are recognizable in the world. so its not the logo that create a brand its the work that company do that create the recognision.

WIPRO
by Vishnu on Aug 05, 2005 04:14 PM  Permalink

Popular belief is that
Wipros logo is sunflower because Azim premji's father started their business empire in sunflower oil trading.
WIPROs full form is WESTERN INDIA VEGETABLE PRODUCTION

But the above article is an eye opener if Shombit Sen & Renee Jhala is telling the truth.

Flower symbol

Everbody thought that the flower denotes the sunflower oil business of Wipro. It wil be very hard to convince the meaning of softpetals/center technology etc.

What's Behind Wipro flower logo
by Sundarraj Kaushik on Aug 05, 2005 03:14 PM  Permalink

It does not matter what thoughts went behind the creation of a logo, what matters is how much does it stick and to tell the truth when I started reading the logo, I just could not recollect the logo. Despite all pointers, flower, colourful etc. I do not know if I am an exception to the rule, but there was no recollection.
Being in the IT industry, I am a thorough fan of Wipro, but the logo does not click for some reason.
