Please see how the patent regime will affect the poor and marginalised and a lot of the lower middle class. Are pharma firms and the rich and upper middle class the only ones to be taken into account ? Do we want to end up like the USA where medical care is unaffordable and where inspite of its wealth 36 million Americans out of 280 million (i.e. one in seven approximately) do not have health insurance and cannot afford medical care. Even their rich were coming to India for treatment ! Can you imagine what it would be for the poor and lower middle class in India who comprise at least 70% (a very conservative estimate) and who won't be able to afford health insurance and the like - and the government hospitals increasingly being privatised in many ways. Look carefully.
