CONGRATULATIONS TO THE TOP NINE
by Beldeu Singh on Oct 18, 2007 11:51 AM  Permalink

must say that the top nine are really very good and the top seven are fabulous or even magical and enchanting. There are two new fantastic voices in this batch. And they will contribute to Indian music. Some will certainly contribute more than others. That is sooooo important to take note of.

The problem is us. We have likes and dislikes that can influence or temper our preferences. Its our preferences that can be problematic and can get us emotional. We need some amount of "breadth of mind" to detach ourselves from the singers and just consider and appreciate the singing. But song wroters and composers and those who have studied music may have a different basis for their preferences. They have a more objective and more competent assessment for their choices.

A Porche is a fantastic car, so is a Merc or a Lexus. They are all really very good cars. Its the personal preference that makes the difference that influences the acquision. I guess the complex surrounding the prefences for singers in a contest can be far more intricate than choosing a car. It has to do with voice as well as personality and a host of likes and dislikes. We have to live with that.

Yes, Anu, the CHALLENGE is mere exposure - like a prelude. The real test will be in the marketplace and in the industry in the years ahead. The enthralling voices and versatile will make the cut and get a place in the sun. The album sales will tell the real tale. So, let the market deal.
