One extremely superb and exuberant performance can create an instant star. But winning the saregamapa challenge is a complex process. It calls for very fine management of the process of building the vote banks.
Among other things, there is no room for upsetting or offending or going against the grain than runs in any group of voters and requires understanding their whims and fancies. Cultivating and nurturing support within the various vote banks is part of the key to entering the top five. One cannot take for granted that only talent, voice and performance matters.
Voting is part of a complex human behaviour. In many people it is not delinked from one's likes and dislikes which means it is not an absolutely independent process linked to automatically support talent, voice and performance. It is a tempered process.
The teen voters, forming about 500,000 can form the deciding block especially when the two contestants and tightly locked in an elimination round. Teens tend to vote en block due to a social cohesivity based on teen likes and dislikes. Offending this block can turn the tables. So, its not just the performance that counts. Other things that figure in the approval or disaaproval of this group does matter. The mind of the teen voter can be flippant. I certainly hope that someone would do Phd work on voting behaviour.
Mentors must understand this process and guide their 'students' accordingly in order to avoid upsetting surprises.

Watching the elimination clip is quite painful but there are bigger things that lie ahead and much more to be gained from this participation as part of the grand plan. Just look forward.
