5 Decisions that changed India
by ALOK DHOTEKAR on Aug 15, 2007 09:48 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

When I started to read this article I was expecting some very objective points of presentation. However it seems we continue to prove the joke about Indians right- One Indian Philosopher, two Indians Discussion, three Indians%u2026 TOTAL CONFUSION%u2026 anyway let me put my reading and findings on this%u2026.

In my opinion the 5 decisions that changed India are :

1.      Appointment of Dr Manmohan Singh as the Finance Minister in 1991. Not to ponder too much on history of that. But the fact remains that P V Narsimharao had the guts to retain his once appointed Finance Minister all through his regime where as even respected Atal Bihari, the so called strong PM turned paper tiger when he buckled under pressure to interchange portfolios of Jaswant Singh & Yashwant Sinha.. The fruits of LPG %u2026 Liberalization, Privatisation & Globalisation, initiated by Dr Manmohan, are for all to see. Why it is vital is that none of the succeeding FMs had to reverse what the great economist did.
2.      C-DOT : Not many will find relevance in this. Some of us have already pointed the need for infrastructure. But many overlook that C-DOT got an original Indian economic model in place. Those who have witnessed the Truck %u2013 call from telephone office regime will know how easily full infrastructure of telecom of network was created, that too with private money and also created employment. Hats off to Sam Pitroda & Rajiv Gandhi. Telecom users, this telecom boom didn%u2019t come overnight. There

Please come out of your ideal world and try to be more realistic.

You have to remember that we Indians might not be as rich as Americans but we enjoy more personal freedom than the Chinese.

Regarding our "more educated" Americans, they couldn't come up with anybody better than George Bush as a President for two consecutive terms. And we all know that Mr. Bush's actions have only divided this world further. So, a "more educated" electorate does not guarantee anything.

It's the great decisions that matter in any country. And that's what this article is highlighting.

So, appreciate it and chill !

India on right track

The only way to improve standard of leaving is growth ... every country has to go thorugh phases to become prosperous. Once you build the total wealth, then you can distribute the wealth. There is nothing to distribute if you are not growing.

Secondly, we need to manage the side-effects of growth such as environmental impacts, social changes etc. Solution is not to stop growth to manage side-effects.

No country has become rich overnight ,, it takes decades to achieve that but we are in right direction.

only commies think otherwise .. solution for making improvement is not doing nothing but controlled change (even if there are some side-effects).

And as for everyone critisizing US, remember in every country close to US, people's standard of leaving has improved dramatically .. take Ireland, japan, Australia, Canada, South Korea and many EU countries.

Ultimately if I have comfortable, secure life with good facilities/infrastructure, I don't give a damn about what Commies ideology says.

5 decisions that changed India
by abhishek chauhan on Aug 15, 2007 08:10 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

1. Top of all I strongly say was making Nehru as our P.M. if it wud have been Sardar Patel India today wud be in better condition.
2. Declaretion of India as Secular state, ideally India shud be a Hindu country.
3. Imposing of Reservation for OBC that made India 20 yrs. backward, all creams went other developed nation and all rubble get into Govt. system to make it more corrupt.
4. Giving back the territory back to Pak. which we won during 1972 war, and their 90K soldiers who surrenders...among them was Mussharaff too.
5. No strong policy implementtation for Population control like one brought by Mr. Sanjay Gandhi... I salute him for his strong decisions in favour of country

You can add a very long list that changed India. But until and unless we understand the art of laying roads and bridges or any infrastructure there is no point.

A small flyover over a railway crossing in Coimbatore took about 4 years and then the Chief Minister had to be bribed to inaugurate the bridge. Look at how the US builds bridges and roads. You will never know that they started it or even finish it. Overnight the new lanes will be enabled without any fun fare. No ribbon cutting or anything.

When you start publicizing the jobs that you were supposed to do it says that you do not have a good conscious inside you.

First let us do that instead of talking about all the glorious achievements.

Hey Bhuddha, why in the gods name are you even using this holy name, dunbwits like you can just blabber all day long and do nothing else, this is a time to get together and do something better not just site there and type hate messages against your own countrymen, true that there are people who want to get the natin down and are using terrorist activities BUT not all muslims think alike, you NEED to open your eyes and get the broader picture, Is it only muslims comprise of terrorists, don't forget the killer of Gandhiji, Rajiv Gandhi, and many more such people....the real cause of INDIA being still counted in the developing nation is not because of corruption, poverty, illiteracy but it is the THINKING of stupid morons like you, i hate to even acknowledge your prescence out here....may you GROW UP AND COME TO SENSES before you go mad with HATE and INSANITY..try to do some justice to your name

Ur sadly mistaken. Infact reservations have helped the have nots to come up, and they are competing with the so called forwards and giving a run for their money. With regards to the employment in the Govt. departments for these people, all the decesions, policy matters are done by the forward classes. It is because of the incompetence, and corruption of the forward classes, that our country is in a mess. If the mentality of the forward castes doesnt change, and assimilate the backwards and sc/st's in the mainstream, we shouldnt be surprised, that we are sitting on a social bomb right in our midst, which will explode on our faces. This social bomb is nothing but in the form of these people converting to Christianity, where they get respect and ofcourse their social standing in the society improves. They get more chances of education and more avenues of progress. Already its happening in my state of AP. If this trend continues atleast 50% of AP will be followers of Christianity. And what we hindus are doing? Busy comlaining of reservations, Ram mandir etc.

"Giving back the territory back to Pak. which we won during 1972 war, and their 90K soldiers who surrenders...among them was Mussharaff too. "

ITA A MISPERCEPTION THAT MUSHARAFF SURRENED IN 1971 ,COZ HE WAS FIGHTING I THE WAR ON WESTEREN FRONT ,WHILE IT WAS ONLY PAK ARMY IN EAST PAKISTAN(BANLADESH) WHO LAID DOWN THEIR ARMS.

WE WON 1971 WAR,WITH PAKISTAN,BUT LETS NOT CARRY OR SPREAD ANY MISCEPTION ABOUT IT.
