by vijaya vittal on Aug 16, 2007 01:09 PM  Permalink

It is no doubt heartening to celebrate our great coun try's 60 th independence day--but with the politicians stooping to lowest level to earn money(most of them) where are we heading?our GDP is raising..Industrial output is raising..per capita income is also raising..but what about the rate of growth of BLACK MONEY ..its alarming..otherwise our country can beat China in every aspect Unless there is political will we cannot prosper with the corruption spreading like CANCER in the couintry

are we really independent
by sudhir chauhan on Aug 16, 2007 11:34 AM  Permalink

the bigger question today is what are we celebrating. are we really independent. the only difference since 1947 have been that the britishers have been replaced by Politicians. their has not been any major change.

common man is still supressed. When Viceroy use to move public was stopped and turned around. when our prime minister moves same happens, and policeman on duty behaves in same manner as army of viceroy use to. he can abuse you, splash his danda on you.

no one can dare file a FIR against SHO of a thans, no matter how deeply he is involved in crimes and other activities.

you can easily be framed as criminals and you will die fighting the case in court.

i wonder what are we proud of after 60 years. we are all living in fear - and we call it independence.

Idli Slaves like Subraniyam can write these
by Dipak Bose on Aug 16, 2007 11:08 AM  Permalink

This author must be looking for a bungalow in New Delhi, otherwise he could not write such a rubbish.

India was not in technology apartheid since 1974 and even before 1974 it has not received any technology from USA either.
All came from the Soviet Union, without it India could not have industrial development, oil refinery, oil fields, space research, missiule development, nuclear weapons and power development and aircraft industries. The author does not want to recognize that because in that case he will get any Bungalow.

What India has gained by giving up Five Years Plan, now 80 percent of the population in India live with less than $2 a day, the world definition of poor.

What India has gained by Sakti Tests, when Indian missiles are not fitted with nuclear weapons. India already gave up its nuclear weapons by the Indi-US Treaty it has signed. Indian Missiles all came from Russia.

This are the kind of authors Indian media is promoting: all slaves.

Reservation
by SUNITHA on Aug 16, 2007 10:55 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

As long as The politicians play the reservation game for votes India will never prosper. This growth as we see now is inspite of the Govt and not because of it.The growth which would have been a natural phenomenon was stunted by the policies of the Gandhi Govt.So it will take time for the malnutritioned child to stand up against the odds.

reservation should be on financial basis and should not be on caste basis...........ya it is very much right that the reservation system has done nothing good for us and it has just hampered our growth...........if reservation be on financial basis then there should not be any distributed growth........and if this evil creeps into private sector then india will definitely be lame............but ever growth which india is growing today is only due to growth rate in porivate sector and there is no need to write about the plight of govt. sector......... yeah to "RAM bhorese " hi chal raha hai

Five decisions that changed India
by Rajinder Katoch on Aug 16, 2007 09:45 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Given below is pointwise answer to the above article.
* Despite the massive illiteracy and feudal culture, India decided on a universal adult franchise system as the basis of its democracy. She decided to be a secular state in spite of the deep religious commitment among its people.
Ans. By opting for a system like democracy, India has slowed down its pace. Here even beggers on street have fake ration card and voter id card. They vote massively whereas educated when apply for these documents asked for money and face bureacracy. Even politicians do not want educated class to vote as they have the mind of their own. Secular word is added in preamble because size of muslims were increasing and they never respect govt policy of family planning.

* Against opposition from the United States, China, Pakistan and the Non-Aligned community of nations, India decided to support the Bangladesh liberation struggle and help in ushering in a sovereign Bangladesh.

Ans. Why alone Bangladesh, Congress did lot in Sri Lanka also and that resulted in a rifle but on Rajiv Gandhi and later on his assissnation. Today, Bangladesh doesn't recognise your help like it did in 1971 after getting free from Pakistan.

* India decided to give up the centralised planned economy model's licence and quota permit Raj and opt to join the market economy and globalisation process in 1991.

Ans. That was the only option corrupt congressmen left for the country. CBI the tool of Congress then wast

Very well replied. Congress in India have forever destroyed the country. They made India secular... stopped Vallabhbhai from removing pakistanis and muslims from kashmir.... initiated riots against Sikhs (They blame hindus for it, but it were congressmen only).... put in Pratibha Patil as President, who is as corrupt as they come..... introduced quota system, which is dividing the country and encouraging incompetence.... the list is endless

The 1977 Revolution JANATA versus the Emergency
by Jagdish Shetty on Aug 16, 2007 09:32 AM  Permalink

Mr. K Subrahmanyam is nicely analysised the Five Decisons that changed India but he has forgotten the most important decision of the people of India in March 1977 when due to the ballot they overthrew the authoritarian rule of Mr. Indira Gandhi and restored Democracy back in India. One shudders to think what would have happenned if Mrs. Gandhi was successful in the elections. It was definetly the People Victory. Long Live Democracy !!
