Didn't we forget some thing
by saurabh kaul on Aug 15, 2007 02:49 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Are we not forgetting what Rajiv Gandhi took as an initiative for Telecom Revolution, Computer Revolution, Panchyati Raj, Operation Flood, Bofors etc, because of which India is where it is today, premiers in IT and ITES. And you think there were only 5 of them.

Honestly speaking I am not sure about Rajiv Gandhi's telecom and Computer revolution without liberalising economy and giving away the license raj. Allowing some IT companies didn't make much change to the life of India. To me, it was more like a blind stroke. It only created more body shoopers in the country. When DOTCOM was burst, suddenly many companies found themselves nowhere. The real master stroke was economic liberalisation. This allowed MNCs to pump money in India. They wanted to save money using cheaper labour and there was an IT revolution in India. IT revolution is still in phase 1. India's IT contribution is still insignifican although it is a BPO king.
I think Rajiv Gandhi was the worst political leader in India. He won with record breaking (3/4th) majority. If he was as strong as her mother he could have rewritten the history. He talked about vision, but there were no strong steps. With no opposition, he could have kicked economy with massive infrastructure projects like what China is in last decade. He unnecessarily provoked Hindus by turning SC orders in Shahabano case and then tried to woe Hindus by opening Ram Mandir. He had little clue that he was opening Pandora's box. As a whole I consider him as a complete failure.

Abhay ..Do you what Janata raaj did in Seventies when they got Power..(They threw off IMB,Coke and were so hostile with foreign technology as well as companies)...Sirf Swadeshi Swadeshi karne se kyaa hota..?? Rajiv sure did few good things ..And yeah He openly embraced IT,Telecom sectors THEN...Its absurd not to acknodlege and say that he was worst leader etc..He is the one who initiated, and exposed Indian Spy racket ..and that to within after few weeks becoming PM....Its very natural if you dislike someone, we happen to forget good deeds...and yeah public memory is always short...I do have strong opposition with some congress leaders but Rajiv was not worst political leader... he didnt even want to be leader...Its people who made him then why blame him now...?

he worst leader in the sense he only gave his 10% whereas 100% was required from a PM with support of 400 MPs. If he had taken real steps like what you are talking about, India would have been far ahead of China. Mere IT industry was nothing but a body shopping industry. There was too much of hesitation and he hardly understood the overall picture. If he had taken stronger steps in 80s the situation of 90s wouldn't have happened. 1. India wouldn't have become so bankrupt that Mr. Chandrashekhar had to airlift GOLD in british custody overnight.
If he had slightest clue of home misnistry, the Ayodhya issue wouldn't have become so big. I just fail to understand on what logic some people give him credit. Just because he allowed some MNC companies to set up here. he had the power uproot corruption. He failed there as well. He was only aquitted in Bofors case on technical ground after his death because he was no longer in position to defend himself.

Its naive and absurd to say that liberalisation was "master stroke".
Whether one agrees or not the fact remains that all earlier policies of state control etc. have contributed to get India to this level.

I agree.India needs to pay due tribute Late Rajiv Gandhi. All the progress in IT that we have today is due to his vision.May his soul rest in peace.

If Rajv Gandhi was alive today,we would have been much better.

it was bad luck that we followed principles of democracy, with out ensuring who is qualified to vote.nehru worked to make his family as waris of this countery.gandhi ji completely ignored his family.you know all this.who says we are free.we are ruled by nehru family.worst happened, when bhartia janta party took over.their performance was also not appreciated by countrymen.in fighting and corruption prevaled during their regime.this time people may reject UPA RULE.PEOPLE want corruption free society.nothing is being done on this front.

Who created religion? Who is GOD?
by ahmed kasim on Aug 15, 2007 02:25 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Who created religion? Who is GOD?

1) Existence of the supreme power is called GOD in English, Allah in Arabic, Bhaghvan in Hindi.

2) Neither Jesus nor Mohammed or any other Prophet (=Gods messenger) said we are going to create new religion. In Islam Allah says I did not create any religion, and it does not require for me. Religions are created by humans due to misunderstanding

3) Islam means follower of submission to God in peace. Jesus never called himself Jesus Christ in his life time, original name Jesus was Esha. Christinas is a Greek word and means Gods messages. Original name of Bible is Injeel. There is no word called bible in BIBLE. Since the meaning of bible is BOOK which is originated from a Greek/Latin word.

4) It is our time to identify the existence of supreme power and worship him before our death, other wise you need to answer for on the Judgment day. Existence of supreme power and worship for the supreme power is talking all the books like Vedas, Bible, Quran. But nobody is having the time to read and understand it.

It is our responsibility to realize why we are here? Why are we born? Why are we living?

5) From different parts of the world people are migrated to India. To get the higher level in the society, they created the casts and sub casts. SC/ST become lower casts who are original Indians.

6) Hindu name has been originated from the river Sindhu, in this case all Indians are Hindus. To divide and rule British people made statue prayer to Hindhu and others to Muslim and Christians.

7) Nowadays politicians are still using the same game to gain the election power, and interesting is most of the politicians are dont believe in religion but they use it very much because they need power in their hand.

8) Finally who suffers? We, Indians, traditional and religious people, without knowing what is religion. Every one is thinking that my religion is great and others are fool, but he does not know that he is the biggest fool in this world. We are following our parents guided religion. Imagine suppose our parents are guided us to different religion instead of present one, then we may have followed that one.

9) Until unless Indian people are come out and realize what is religion, why it is?, India will never be super power(/developed) country by 2020 or even 2220. Since internal fight is more dangerous to the development of the country.

5 Decisions
by Mukund on Aug 15, 2007 02:25 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

1st decision was 100% wrong. If they wanted to creat secular state, then concept of united India including Pakistan and Bangladesh would have saved a lot of money that all countries are spending in Defence, wars and could have been well utilized in building highway, dam etc.
2nd decision would not have been required.
3rd decision is O.K but not good. Instead of Globalization, GOI should have given more subsidies to then Industries and made export compulsory to them.
4th Decision was too late. If Necular option was exercised much earlier nearby Chinese tests, we would have been in UN security concil today.
5th decision is not yet clear and opinion of Nuclear sientists should be held final than decision by politicians.

RE:5 Decisions

Your comments are good. But it seems you are too carried away by emotions rather than ground reality.
1. Firstly India was never an united country before British power. It was a geographically connected group of several states ruled by Rajahs and Maharajahs and then by Sultans. The history is not really glorious. They fought with each other for power and cared little about foreign invasion. In fact, to them every other compititor state was foreign. Partition was forced on us and there was no way out without the willingness of all parties.
2. So, 2nd decision was necessary.
3. Subsidies...? Do you know country didn't have enough funds to run the nation for more than few weeks? Mr. Chandrashekhar had to put Gold into Bank of England's custody to run the country. Despite opposition, Dr. Manmohan Singh had to take tough decisions and full credit to PV Narsimha Rao for giving him political support although many Congress leaders thought otherwise.
4. Nuclear tests were not possible untill India had enough foreign reserves. In fact, economic liberalisation was bit too late.
5. In my opinion, we have to believe in Dr. Manmohan Singh. He was damn right when everyone opposed him. One cannot argue with the integrity of this man. The question is, does India need more nuclear weapons or technological assistance, econonomic benefits and diplomatic advantage. Scientists don't necessarily understand the international politics and the stratagic benefits.

Five people who changed India
by Ravi & Manju on Aug 15, 2007 02:16 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

In real sense after Indepence 5 people contributed to change India to a great extent. One of them could be Rajiv Gandhi. Others are Tatas, Ambanis and Birlas who struggled in those stupid socialist era and finally took no chance to turn the table in open market. No doubt they made lot of riches but they also created lot of wealth and employment. The other is MS Swaminathan who worked for food productivity and made Indian farmer produce enoug for all. Finally it is Vajpai who represented a mature face of India. All other politicians could be trashed aside. Its not the politicians but many other from various sectors of Indian society who made India vibrant and live. Political decisions and interest never helped India to grow. China war in 61 is such blunder where we lost thousands of Jawans. Its not Congress or BJP regime that contributed to India's growth. Its common man of India who took it to new highs and he/she is the one who can deliver promises in future too.

Turn back and learn from 60 years of experience
by Nat Murali on Aug 15, 2007 02:12 PM  Permalink

Some more important factors to sustain democracy-
1.Compulsory Franchise- by all eligible voters. At the same time -elect Panchayat,, Municipal, Legislative, Parliament representatives- Each person will complete the voting only once in year. Any bi election the party who has won will nominate the replacement.
Those not voting without proper reason will forego passport, Ration card %u2013can be fined and imprisoned .
2.State funding of Elections- no investment and reaping benefit.
3. Reservation- for all the economically backward people- no caste, religious bar- only once in the life time of the individual- after he/she gets the benefit- (only for education) the person should compete on the grounds of merit for any job or career. No other reservation in promotion or other aspects of social life. Once a person enjoy special privilege on the basis of reservation-his or her future generation are barred from opting for the same- they are deemed to be out of Economic backwardness.
4. Connect all the rivers- Let us stop talking- start doing- Involve Israel and other international %u2013friendly countries- come out with first integration of all the state rivers, then inter state and national rivers.- Funding %u2013 start the planning with non governmental , international , Technology leaders- on the all aspects to get a blue print. Get a referendum done all over the country %u2013 make people accept and participate- Once done %u2013 India will be the major democratic super power

Agriculture seeds will be of good quality.
Everyone will follow traffic rules.
Everyone will get justice.
