DRUNK DRIVING
by R Arvind Nair on Jun 17, 2008 11:35 AM  Permalink

This problem with the youth is likely to get worse with time.
Rising income levels, affluence, parental indifference, wider media reach, etc., are all contributing factors.
It will require stern policing, faster and effective judiciary and counseling to bring some kind of discipline amongst the youth.

In our country, if Salman Khan can get away with it why cant the others. I live in Dubai and punishment for drink driving is very severe. I have few suggestion
1. No club or disco should allow anybody to drive back home who is drunk. They should be checked in the gate itself.
2 On weekends the police patrol and checking should be very severe and frequent

3 The most important point.......any body caught driving car in intoxicated condition, should be immedietly arrested, behind bars for 3to 6 months or send to do community work and a fine ranging till 2 lacks. Most of these guys comes from rich family

4 The parents should be responsible . The values of indian socity is going down.

5 The law has to be strict. The law should not wait to punish after the harm is done. It should impose severe punishment at the grassroot level.

6 Last but not the least a small message.......we all upgrade ourself in our lifestyle. From a small house or car to abigger one, from a low paid job to ahigher salary, etc etc. But in this course we forget to upgrade ourself to a better human being. We should see that we do something for the socity , and not become aburden to the socity like those 3 teenagers, whose death does,nt bother us.

PLEASE PUNISH SALMAN KHAN

Solution is simple but need political will to implement
by Mahabaleswar Angadi on Jun 17, 2008 11:29 AM  Permalink

It is simple. No punishment, no court proceedings. Just confiscate the entire property owned by the offender and put it in national disaster management fund. Pay the victims and dependents appropriately for their needs.

Public must..
by Vijay Shankar on Jun 17, 2008 11:29 AM  Permalink

.. complain to the media and traffic police as and when they see a rash driver. FM station radio can encourage people to call in and let whole world know about the dangerous driver on the prowl.

Gandhi%u2019s wishes
by S S on Jun 17, 2008 11:23 AM  Permalink

Congressmen swear by Mahatma Gandhi. But, to what extent are they following his ideals? Veerappa Moily and Janardhan Poojary have declared that they would allow free sale of liquor if the Congress comes to power in Karnataka next may be free sex also to garner more votes. They should visit some of the de-addiction centres NImhans Spandana TTK Chennai to understand the sufferings of the families as a result of this menace. Instead all they dream is votes. People elcet government to safeguard them and give them decent life NOT to ruin them with liquor pan parag and drugs

let some politicians kids get killed laws will change fast
by allahiskhanzeer on Jun 17, 2008 11:22 AM  Permalink

let some politicians kids get killed laws will change fast, bcoz till something happens to some mp-mla kid that too hi-profile like say rahul
getting into accident by some opposition member then only something will happen and rules will change for ever.

today youht is more materialistic and fun oriented, its not bad in itself, but they hv no morals and no self control.

so its important to impart spiritial education to youth more than general education.

No its difficult
by Vinu on Jun 17, 2008 11:21 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

No use if you makes rules more tougher, or increase the punishment. This will only give more power and chance to authorities at different levels to earn more money(bribe). Our System is hollow.

Make the system transparent, make people aware. and kill this system of hide and seek.

I have very dramatic examples of this Law and Order, police, you will laugh sometime.

I lost my car, some gang took it in the night. I registered a complaint, they are cool, no expression in their faces, they register the case not to catch the thief, just to do formality so you get insurance and they get some money to give you FIR copy. I got my car back, it was seen by my friend parked somewhere out of city limits, I told the police they said ok good get it here so we can do the formalities, No problem if you have dead body in the car or bomb or anything. I got the car back and they sealed it in the police station and sent me to the court to get the order to release it, he hehehehe. Really funny. it means dont buy a car, if its stolen not our responsibility, but if you get it back you have to roam here and there.

Are we takling the problem correctly. We are applying our mind in the post-maritum OR after driking scenario. What about selling alchohol officially by Govt? Is health department became blind? How law permits govt to continue harming people by making them drink alchohol and how come Govt major source of revenue be from spoiling the health of people and society? Should we not talk about the source of the problem?
