Driver drunk ... Car Vrooooooming!
by Phaltu Uloo on Jun 17, 2008 04:47 PM  Permalink

I guess we imported modern, western cars with amazing acceleration abilities but omitted to import their driving courtesies and manners. Not that the west has no drunk drivers; but when apprehended, western law is harsh and swift, quite unlike our soft laws that let the drunks scotfree within a few hours of detention, on payment of ridiculously low bail.

measures
by srinath rao on Jun 17, 2008 04:39 PM  Permalink

1) Increase salary of traffic police so that they are more motivated to nab the wrong doers rather than extract money from them to make up for their low salary.
2) once you do this give enough power to that police to fine people & if needed even slap them for not following the rules.
3) penalty for such crime must be 5/6 yrs in prison & hefty fine to their parents.

Ban drinking itself. it may not sound great for our drinking friends. But it really works. Long back in Andhra pradesh they implemented drinking ban. But Govt went for huge losses and reverted the decision. Everyone knows this drinking generates more n more money for govts. They cannot ban that. god only can save

It is the time when neo-rich youth turn to adventure. In a country where cops also enjoy drinking while on duty, allow free drinking. The only thing which is required is to raise the morals and ethics of the people.Let the people learn bu doing. But the punishment has to be instant, then and there and ought to be examplary sometimes. It is the restrictions or the prohibtion that encourages the youth to show off and create seen without any provocation.

Drunk driving: What's wrong with India's youth?
by Rajesh Anantharaman on Jun 17, 2008 04:18 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Nothing's wrong with India's youth, look to their parents for the cause. What will spoilt, money-for-love trading youth with no parental love or affection achieve in life? They are hard put to gather some attention and this is the way they do it with loads of cash. I feel sorry for the parents of these youth who grew up better then these kids and yet are incompetent to even roll out what their parents did for them. Shows the true worth of education inducted values in our country.

The biggest terrorist is you...not Javed Hasnain.....
You are a cyber terrorist...a meek spineless nincompoop who sits behing a computer and writes crap about Muslims...if you have the guts, enter one of the Muslim mohallas and say what you just said to Hasnain...got it you spineless ninny??

And a person who accuses someone of being a terrorist based on his name says a lot about his mental development...not more than a jurrasic pea brain........feel pity for a loser like you!!

Mr. Sheshadri I didn't specifically blame only U. I have not mentioned ur name anywhere in my post. I addressed to all the people in general who are indulged in these caste/religion topics creating a rift. So my post was not only for u but to everyone.

to the first part of your post:

In india, a muslim or a christian can get away by calling hindus names, not vice versa... thanks to our politicians and pseudo-secularists for that....

i think you need to calm down and take it smoothly... instead of showing your immaturity...

Well my post is not related to the above topic. I just want to stop these caste/religion rifts. U ppl r talking abt hindu, muslim, christianity etc. therz no need to talk abt them. The question asked was WHETHER THE PUNISHMENT SHUD BE INCREASED TO 10 YEARS AND WHAT OTHER PUNISHMENTS SHUD BE GIVEN TO DRUNK DRIVERS. SO JUST GIVE UR OPINIONS INSTEAD OF FIGHTING AMONGST EACH OTHER. WELL IN MY OPINION THE PUNISHMENT SUGGESTED BY MR. SRINATH RAO SEEMS TO BE PERFECT.

GOOD SUGGESSION MR. SRINATH.

amit, i had replied to your reply; apparently rediff seems to find it objectionable (even though it is not abusive)....

the crux is this - i dont talk on issues which are trivial

second, the comment from david irked me and hence my reply...
