ragging is a crime those who support it either ragg others or hav been victim of it and just accept it as a rule to feel good.it is an harsh method to know about the freshers .these thing does not happen in schools or workplace then why in higher educational institutions .those who ragg get sadistic pleasure on the expense of others. ragging doesn't happen in U.S in U.K.it is prevelant only in south asia.

Actually there was no ragging word. but some frustrated seniors who think themselves superior gave this name. I think intro from juniors is no way wrong but making it ragging is absolutely unavoidable. well i have not been ragged at all n too not ragged any junior.
everybody is not the same. some are mentally weak. what seniors do for fun will haunt them making them more insecure .seniors should make them friends instead of ragging
It is impossible to draw a line and say this is okay and this is not okay. But I think ragging leads to terrible cosequences. Better to throw away this terrible habit. It would have been best if nobody would have started it at all. It is something like corruption. Somebody started it , others are continueing. Media can definitely help reduce both.

totally agree. it strips away self esteem from sincere youth student it is intended to dehumanize and degrade a person.
Ragging is extremely bad. Some people claim that it does good to a person. It might happen in some rare cases but in majority of cases, the intention of senior is to show off their ego and to humiliate the juniors. I was also ragged once and most of my friends had to undergo much more humiliation. When I became senior, then I found that my juniors were afraid even to look at their seniors including me because they were afraid that they would be ragged. I did not want to do what wrong had happened to me. Therefore, I did not rag anybody. It does not mean that I did not meet my juniors. I did meet them sometimes in their rooms (in hostel) and sometimes in mine. But I never humiliated them. On the contrary, I guided them in their studies in whatever way I could. Initially they were very afraid when I wanted to meet them. But soon they started trusting me. Most of my batch mates made fun of me because I did not rag anybody. In their opinion, I did something stupid by not ragging but in my opinion I did the right thing. Anyway, different people have different opinions. Let me add that I did ask various questions to my juniors but I did not do anything to humiliate them. I used to ask them questions related to studies and helped them if they gave wrong answer or did not give the answer at all. If you want to call this as ragging, then it is different matter.
Ragging should be strictly banned. It is exploitation. Those who say it is fun are generally those who want to be chamchas of the seniors for some notes or such things. What is the special need for ragging in colleges? What is supposed to be ragging in colleges is called bullying in school and goondagiri on the street. It is uncivilized and actually a form of showing who is the boss, like wolves who kowtow before the alpha male.
