I think this is a problem with how we Indians see ourselves. I have seen the same kind of behaviour in restaurants outside Indian too. The indian restaurants trat the gora people fairly and they just make us wait or even when they server its is with a spice of attitude.

Most of the white people who comes to India are among the least wealthy (lower middle class and low class). If they are rich they will go somehere else not come to the stupid Goa which is full of Drugs and child molestors...
Most of Indian hospitality industry knows this... They get more money from Indians than anayone else..
May be these stupid unhealthy Pizza shops and burger shops which only 3rd class and 4th class people go in Europe and US wants more of white thrash.. But who cares about these country idiots... Go to someother place...
Ofcourse its only money...goras will give 200 in tip and we won't :) That is why when I go to GOA I will go with one of my Angrez friends so that she can tip them and I can eat - in peace :D

IT IS NOT TIP. THE SAME THING I HAVE EXPERIENCE 3 TO 4 TIMES, FOR YOUR KIND INFO NOT ALL FOREIGNERS GIVE TIP. GOANS ARE RACIST. I WISH IF ANYONE COME TO GUJARAT, I LL GIVE BACK THE SAME HOSPITALITY.

bulls eye, its only tip. Goras give tip of around 10-15% of there bill we give 10 -50 rupees. Why a waiter would come to an indian. they want to make money so they ignore.
We Indian always have some fancy for the other while putting our own country man down......that is how the waiter also has grown up...it is in our culture and we all live up to it......

Perhaps the Goans like these still (consciously or subconsciously) consider themselves to be Europeans. May be they are still living before 1961 when Goa was freed.

Goan's have a culture that's a cross between the Konkan region and a distinct Portuguese culture. Just like each state in India has its own unique language and customs, the goan culture and customs were very profoundly influenced by the Portuguese. The music, culture and people are more westernised than any other state in India. Most goans find it easier to live in another country than in another state of India because of this, which is probably why they don't easily identify with being Indian. India itself would have been like Africa a mish mash of different countries if the British hadn't conquered Indian and unified all the states under a single country. The kings and sultans of the old days would never have agreed to form a united nation.

"Then there was the time I went to Chennai. There was this disco type place that allowed no single men inside UNLESS you were a fair-skinned foreigner. The others had to go upstairs and look at the crowd from a balcony above though a net".
well this is what happens when we dont treat the waiters in right way. we dont respect our ouwn people so how we expect diffrent from them. i personaly have seen treatment given to waiters in lot of resturants which is disturbing. i strongly feel that we need to mend our ways first before we can pass any judjment.
the Indian mindset, our mentality remains the same!Large scale Indian migrant population today. Large scale racist, religious abroad, violence against fellow Indians in the Indian states!
Has the dominant Indian mindset changed?
A caste society might become progressively a class society?
Indians seem to be living blissfully unaware of the world outside, also the country inside. There is violence, racist attacks against Indian students, across the global arena where the Indians these days are jealous migrants!
Inside India, our selfish political locals has crafted a political culture of exclusion,anti-North,anti-Hindi,anti-Brahmin(TN),anti-Biharis(Maharashtra),anti-%u201Dforeigners%u201D as ULFA does in Assam. So, where is India in all these chauvinistic politics, this fascist mindset? So, what Indian mindset we are witnessing or aspiring for? Who can ask such questions? Who can answer such questions either? So, every one of us seem to be living for ourselves, our families, building our own little dynasties?
While we have got our Independence and celebrate it once in a year when someone reminds us of it .. We are still ghulam in our country .. and the status is even worst than that of street dogs in western or other countries
Judism, Chinese, & Egyptian's also have old cultures. But they are better off than us. The mumbai eve-gropers represent's India's true culture. We need to respect other women, obey traffic rules, avoid throwing litter on roads, etc The Western culture can surely teach us these things or else Sidin's article will always remain true even in the 25th centure..
Now you will be clear why our fellows go around holy places and vist their known fellows. They hardly seen in sea, picnic.Just sit in house and see tv or go abroad!!
Goras do have right too get respected. BUT indians too expect same respect (atleast from indians). We should not have anything against goras but try to better and do treat all with respect.
Let me tell u story. A mother of a 6 yr old died. People rumored that those who talk to the girl, the mother as a ghost punishes her. Now no one talks to her. Its twice punishment. One there is no mother second no one talks.

Goras still buy pumpkins on holloween to ward off Ghosts and keep pumpkins in their homes!:D
Dont talk about as if goras dont ahve superstitions. Go to a gora country, live for few years, observe and then u will realise that your this gora bhakti is so ill founded and our Indian Hindu values are much superior to any other than on this earth.

Bhagavad Gita and other vedic scriptures are truly scientific and are light years ahead of bible or other abrahamic scriptures (Talmud included). When Indians were figuring out zeros and -ve numbers, europeans with tails were leading a nomadic lives inside caves (Neanderthals, go figure !)

but then it is natural for anybody to want a fair and beautiful bride.and everybody has his/her parameters of beauty.so what if north indians are besotted by fair skin.though i do not agree on the casteism and religionism but probably india is the only country with so many religions languages dialects and cultures.amidst such a chaos it is but natural to look for someone similar to your cultural background.this differentiation also exists among different sections of christians and muslims.it is not indian mentality it is human nature.what is most condemnable in indian culture is to look down upon some particular services as lowly and people employed there as inferior.that should change.

@Jaleel Why do you have to foul mouth any religion? I am also muslim and Islam teaches us to respect other religions. It is because of people like you that Islam is getting a bad image in the world. Why do you have to say things which angers our brothers?
As rightly said, you are indeed a Zaleel aadmi, soch ke rakha hain tumhara naam!!!
