RUBBISH WRITING
by sarang on Feb 15, 2008 04:23 PM  Permalink

"Give it a miss if you want to avoid the crowd. The monkeys too can be rather mischievous."
REDIFF writers are sinking from bad to worse. This womancan't write clearly and is srtill in school or something. Photos are very nice. She should stick to photos and leave the writing to people who know how.

"Try the local cuisine, take long walks in the plantations, enjoy the beautiful and fresh air or simply laze around sitting and sipping on a cup of tea whispering sweet nothings" This crap is what brochures prrint. REDIFF, hire good writers. At least writers who know english. Anita Bora doesn't know the language well. She must be from Sikkim or Meghalaya. LOL

promoters of V-Day = Economic Hitmen
by shanthipriya on Feb 10, 2008 03:29 PM  Permalink

Valentines day is just promotion of consumption. This the game of Multinationals and their national agents. Read "Confessions of an Economic Hitmen" book. You will understand the game. Rediff is also willingly or unknowingly part of the game. irrespective of religion oppose Valentines day. Keep banners in your localities.

its another good business with so many fools to spend
by Jayant Tilak on Feb 10, 2008 12:12 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

India survived for corers of years without vanentines day. Only two hundred year old country like USA is teaching us the way of expressing such love. New generation is falling for it. May be correct or wrong. I am not to judge that. But just for the sake of easy life, do not forget our family values and social responsibilities. USA is a short story of totally around 300 years or so, not like Inida with history of corers of years. Some young acadamically qualified but socialy unaducated may not agree with me and may emphasis on celebrating Valentine's day in India to suit their commercial needs. But our culture is to celebrate each day as day of loved once. Do indians need to celebrate Mother!s, father!s, Grandma!s, Loved ones(Valentine) day. No, Every day is a day of all living beings. In crores of years History of our Indians, there is no reference of celebrating such days please.

But this does not mean that I am against the business that this day generates, which is a main intention of valentines day.

Only those can respond, who can give their very considered opinion. No foolish comments expected please.

Yes you are 100% right, our indian culture is very best culture than any other country, but we are following westerns. and I remember you that famous poet Allama Iqbal (Sare Jahan se Accha)has mentioned that in his poetry that Western culture is very dangerous killer it not kills suddenly but slowly slowly.

may God protuct us from this culture.

mr. jayant, i agree that we are a older culture compared with the west.
but dont u agree with GANDIJI that let all culture be freely blown in my house, but not to be swept off our feet by any?
i think our youth can withstand these and more!
after all the lineage of an old civilization exists in all of us.thenwe also had days like
kama festivals which is the indian equivalent of valentine, celebrating kamadeva or manmatha!

I agree completely..you dont need valentines day to express love at the first place. Second, on this day vulgarity touches a new high. People get a chance to go physical and blame it on St Valentine...Valentine's day is a discovery of USa merely to satisfy the consumerism of that country. One can not imagine the amount of money St Valentine generates in the form of cards, gifts, flowers and condoms. I agree completely with Jayant. India and its culture of respecting the adult and keeping love out of PDA ( public Display of Affection) model I believe is a much helathier than Americans PDA model wherein a kid may have multiple father and mother from each other.
