Money
by Nithyanandam Bhaskar on Apr 07, 2008 09:41 PM  Permalink

Not Always. You can buy lot of things with money but certain things cannot be bought with money alone. Money is essential to live but not money alone is essential. Hope you got it.

HAPPINESS IS A THING CLOSE TO GOD WHICH CAN NOT BE SOLD OR PURCHASED.THIS CAN BE OBTAINED ONLY BY SACRIFICING KAM, KRODH, LOBH, MOH.SO MONEY HAVE ADVERSE RELATION WITH HAPPINESS.SURVIVAL OF PHYSICAL LIFE MAY BE PROPORTIONAL TO MONEY BUT HAPPINESS IS PURELY RELATED TO SOUL NOT A PHYSICAL BODY.

Agreed. Further, as happiness is a state of mind it cannot be purchased.

Money
by Sanjeet Deb on Apr 07, 2008 09:24 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Money is nothing but a medium of exchange for exchanging goods.Earlier there was the barter system. So money can buy material goods. It has its own plus points and its limitations.Certainly money is required to buy comfort as pointed out by someone in discussion board. The satisfaction level of money is different from individual to individual. For ex- an IIM graduate may earn 1 crore per annum but might have to slog himself out till morning 8 to 12 midnight, now does that give any peace of mind? Money gives the feeling of security but it can never guarantee happiness.I personally feel happiness is again relative in context. For me Happiness is setting up an industry and giving employment to 4 or 5 people to maintain their families. That way I am contributing to the economy bringing about equitable distribution of wealth. With the income from this unit I might be able to visit other countries and see the world. This way I get immense satisfaction. So might be the case with others or might be different. So I feel money alone cannot give you satisfaction. An individual has to have a vision or some good objective in life so as to make good use of it.Just stacking it in form of mutual funds, fixed deposits alone doesnt guarantee peace of mind.

Money ! is Economy of the Country. There are so many channels / Magazines which only focuses on Money & Business ( nothing but cash flow). I appreciate Sanjeet's point of view. Happiness & Money are not directly proportional to equate. Several Job satistfaction surveys has proven that Money is not the priority No.1 for the most happiness is in getting recognised in their profession and love what they are doing.

70% of Man's problem is related to Money. So we always related Hapiness to Money ( which is solvable).

Earning more & spending money in fair way is good for individuals as well as to the country's economy. Through which whole nation can smile. Just imagine how happiness bloomed when stock marked touched 20,000 plus.

MONEY VS HAPPINESS
by on Apr 07, 2008 08:58 PM  Permalink

B.R.GUPTA FROM NOIDA :
WITH INCREASING STANDARDS OF LIVING IN OUR COUNTRY AND WITH HIGHLY EXPENSIVE BASIC EDUCATION, MEDICAL FACILITIES AND HOUSING , IT IS NOT EASY TO SURVIVE WITHOUT GOOD ENOUGH MONEY. SO MONEY WILL BRING YOU ALL THE NECESSARY COMFORTS OF LIFE ALONG WITH A STATUS IN SOCIETY BUT ALL SAID AND DONE IT IS THE SATISFACTION IN YOUR WORKPLACE,CHALLENGE IN YOUR WORK,LOVE AND AFFECTION OF YOUR FAMILY , FRIENDS AND RELATIVES WHICH BRING YOU REAL HAPPINESS. SO IF YOU DO NOT HAVE MONEY YOU WILL NECESSARILY BE UNHAPPY BUT IF YOU HAVE MONEY YOU NEED NOT NECESSARILY BE HAPPY !

Only idiots and Wharton experts would believe that
by sam on Apr 07, 2008 08:51 PM  Permalink

Yeah, looks like it is a paid Ad for Wharton and neoliberal agenda. US is worse off in terms of human development index and standard of living compared to other developed nations like Canada, France etc despite much higher wealth and GDP. The Wal-Mart family owns as much wealth as the 120 million lowest earning Americans combined. And what would they suggest next- millions losing their home in foreclosures are a "happy" lot? 40 million with no health covereage are joyous of their situation? sick joke.

Money Alone Cannot do the trick.
by ann on Apr 07, 2008 08:35 PM  Permalink

Money give you flexibility to afford things that you like to do and get some happiness that way but America is the wealthiest nation and yet it does not rank number 1 on happiness survey. Norway ranks number 1. The reason being there is lot of security in that country. Your education is paid off and if you lose your job the government will look after you. Health care is free. People are persuing their dreams without any fear. Lonely people with lot of money will not be happy. People in California are more miserable because of loneliness than people in India who live in slums and share their lives with their families and extended families.

the answer to this question depends upon how much money the person has in his pocket while reading this.. money cant buy you happiness but it can avoid you a great deal of misery..
