Stop trusting this crap...
by jhumpalahiri on Sep 11, 2007 04:13 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This ia a trick that has been ensuring good sales for these publications for quite some time. First B schools, then medical colleges, then engineering colleges, law colleges and what not....And i remember one of these rating guindy college chennai over IIT Delhi. So if you believe them forgo an offer from IIT Delhi and join Guindy college Chennai...Bullshit....And not only the numbers of research papers but also the quality of researc should count...just compare research work of harvard and one of our Best B school and you will know the difference......

Mr Jhoom Baranar.
Keep your facts right & come out of That IIT syndrome.
There are institues better than few of IIT's for certain courses-
e.g UDCT Mumbai for chemical, COEP pune for instrument ,BITS pilani for some courses etc.
So donot be obsessed with either college or even ranking.
At the end anyone with good intelligence & right attitude will suceed.

Idiotic... IIM graduates jelp tehir alumnis and thatz all.. Otherwise these simply sit and strategise and in several cases their strategies have bombed or backfired... They move out of the company and join somewhere else because there would be IIM alumni sitting there.. Just think of the other employees in that organisation

oh sam ,u fool,if IIM grads help their aluminis ,then same is the case with all of the other internationally aclaimed b schools.so ,first go and check the realities. Moreover if iim grads help their aluminis ,then it means ,they have made to that higher positions previously in thir career ,which u fools often dream of.u got the answer crap,so dont compare iim with your so called international schools .we are on our way and we will surely reach there.

Dear Ashish,

It is correct that there is excellence outside IIT as well. But your claim that there are institutes better than few IITs for certain courses is not correct. Please show me even a single student who got him/her enrolled in these courses despite getting a similar offer (same or identical course) from one of the IIT.

Mittal does not have an MBA etc

"The biggest regret of my life is not having a MBA degree," Mittal said while addressing the annual convocation of the Institute of Management Technology here.

He wanted to go to a B School after completing his graduation from St Xavier's College in Kolkata, but involvement in family business denied him that opportunity.

B School Survey
by Anand Iyer on Sep 11, 2007 02:55 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The top B schools only help in securing good placements (gr8 packages). The top 10% of the B school will move out and the rest whose intellectual level is same or worse than the other B school ctudents secure placements at good companies in India on the basis of their B school brand name.
Only performance and hard work makes one stand out and move up the ladder in the corporate world.
But there are still many companies who short list candidates based on the B schools they have attended rather than the experience of the person.

true.....and the reason behind it is that the ppl coming out of good b-schools have proved their acumen in atleast one moment when it mattered....and hence there goes the diffrentiator.....u might be better than the crowd....but if u don't prove it when it mattered the most....well u already have the answer, don't you?all the best!

U are right Iyer.
What vivek talking is bullshit.
As per data, only 30% of top corporate excutives are from top rung MBA insttitutes.one third of top corporate people across the world are non MBA's & balance one third from not so reputed insttitutes.
So any body who can deliver in crisis will succeed & not only Vivek Bhargav's friend.

b-school surveys are waste
by anzar shennatt on Sep 11, 2007 02:42 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The b-school surveys are waste .They never say about how they give weightages to different factors and wats the criterion . Nobody knows who fills the survey questionnaire .
For example in recruiter's perception do they approach recruiter's for a particular b-school or select few top companies (irony they may visit just 5 top b-schools only ) .What has perception to do with reality.
For students placements (b-school aspirants look for median salary ,not average , and highest and lowest salary.
