Do not follow rat race after going through the media reports about the IIMs.
Persons obtaining Diploma from IIMs are NOT super humans.
Its basically the right amount of preparation of CAT at the right time for getting into these institutes. It does not mean all the other careers are inferior or not lucrative. It all depends on the people what they want to pursue in life.
So, avoid following what others say. Listen to your own self.

I feel that IIM or any Top B Schools in our penninsula Do Not teach you how you should cook your own food,it just takes you through certain issues, that elevates your mental thought platforms.
Start believing Yourself ,and you may never look back.

You have done a good analysis of this ranking business. The screening process of IIM's & IIT is more responsible for what comes from these institutes. These students will do well even if they have to study antwhere else as well. The most damaging outcome of overemphasis on bookish knowledge & over dependence on CAT has been reflected in a frank acknowledgment by none other than the head of IIT's Mr Rao who concceded that students lead a retired life in institutes after going through a tough selection process.
This is just a game by vested intersts. To succed in business you do not need a B school degree. So do not bother about the ratings and concentrate to develop your core cometency to get ahead in life.Do not be in awe of a person who has a higher qualification.Remember in a free market economy you have an equal chance to succeed.

Why Indians are jealous of their own achievements!!!!! Crab like mentality to pull down your best institutions????or U R frog in a well?? World over ,The best universities like Harvard, Stanford, Caltech ,MIT have recognised that IITs ,IIMs are equal to best . R U Indian ,by the way to question these!! or MBA from Ullahsnagar !! Many Indian buiness is based on political manipulation and cheating ,hence good that this practical training is not furnished in these great institution. For ,political approach in business ,we can start a school by, Mayawati, Jaylaita, Lalu,Karunanidhi..I agree this part is missing from training in these institutes.
Dhirubai Ambani is a school dropout. Yet he managed to build a business empire worth billions. RamojiRao used to sell pickles and sell newspapers on bicycle. He is now the Media king of India. MBA is not a criteria for business. Dare to dream and willpower to achieve is what is needed. All those with the fire in belly, get out of B-Schools and go ahead with your business plans.
Not having too many people with experience is IIMs strength - it takes people based on IQ , achievement orientation and communication skills and moulds them to be ready for industry. Experienced folks come with a lot of baggage of past and are typically not as bright because they would have tried for IIMs several times to get in. IIM grads when they start - are still young , experiment more and take risks and that is one reason majority of CEOs , functional heads and investment bankers in India NOW come from IIM background.
This is one reason IIMs are rated highly globally.

IIM's are not rated very highly globally dude.
In factI have seen folks from other B schools doing better than IIM pappu's

Agree - folks from other B schools in Top 6-7 list do equally well. IIMs is just a placeholder for the argument. Global placements at salaries which are similar to LBS or Harvard is a good indication of its ranking.

even i was wondering the same....how come india's highest salary earner B school does not even feature in the list?
its not medicine where u have to get a doctor degree to practice.Be Boss.Take responsiblities. If u fail do again.Wat for MBA when u urself is a school.
