COMMENT ON THE HYPE REGARDING IIM AND OTHER BUSINESS SCHOOLS
by Satyesh Chaudhary on Sep 17, 2007 12:11 PM  Permalink

IT APPEARS TO ME THAT UNNECESSARY SO MUCH LIMELIGHT IS THROWN ON THESE IIMs AND BUSINESS SCHOOLS; THIS MAY DUE TO BRAND BUILT BY THEM; MAY BE BIASED.

STUDENTS FROM OTHER TOP NATIONAL INSTITUTES LIKE ICWAI, ICAI ETCL. ARE NO WAY LESSER THAN MBA GRADUATES FROM IIMS. SYLLABUS AND PERCENTAGE OF PASS RESULT MAY BE ANALYSED WITH THESE IIMS.

THE CONTRIBUTION WHAT LESS LIMELIGHTED INSTITUTES AND ALIKE ARE MAKING IN THE ECONOMY MAY BE ASCERTAINED.

DUE TO EXTRA HYPE ONLY FRESH MBA FROM THESE SO CALLED TOP INSTITUTES ARE EXCELLENTLY PAID COMPARED TO OTHERS EVEN WITH HIGH UNIVERSIOTY AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION.

I FEEL INDUSTRY MAY CONDUCT AN INDEPEDENT SURVEY ON THE CONTRIBUTION OF NEW MBA FROM THESE INSTITURES AND OTHERS SAY FINANCE FROM ICWAI/ICAI/ICSI, MAY RETHINK ON THE HIGH PAY PACKET ALONE TO FRESH MBAs WITHOUT EXPERIENCE; WHICH IS NOT AN USUAL FEATURE IN THE DEVELOPED COUNTRIES

MONEY INVLOVEMENT
by a a on Sep 15, 2007 06:28 PM  Permalink

This kind of survey is definitely biased and doesnot refelct the actual rankings.Lot many goood institutes do not participate and refrain from money tactics.Only private institutes are the ones who are best suited for this kind of survey as they definitely entertain OUTLOOK.
Apart from this whats the credibility of OUTLOOK.lets first figure out that.....

Business schools are temple
by manoj kumar on Sep 15, 2007 12:58 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Business schools in india are going to create future leaders. Managers, who are going to promote products, services and creat income for people, company. And it will help create many jobs for many indians. Bus. School are like temple, where the wish of india to be a rich and powerful nation is gonna fulfilled.
So they have to maintain very high standard. and its possible only when students, mgmt both understand how imp. is their role in our future. Otherwise its about just getting certificate.

Dear Manoj

Business schools can help corporates grow but not the economy or a country. Managers(MBA's)can help corporates corner higher market share for their companies but in no way can contribute to the overall economy. Unlike popular belief like that of yours they cannot create income but help concentrate the income with corporates which are the fittest.

The world will not see a fundamental change if all this managers from the business schools disappear from the face of the earth.

Teachers, researchers and people from all walks of life with a sense of social responsibility keep the world going in the forward direction. However, these people are the humble beings who struggle to keeping things rolling in the right direction and the so called Business school graduates only grab these towards themselves and corner the glory and the moolah.

In reference to your statement on Managers promoting products and services, it doesnont matter if the a company X and its managers cease to exist, company Y will just do what X was doing with no problem. Its not like the world will end.

India is country where mediocrity is celebrated than Merit is given its due !!!!!
by S Narain on Sep 15, 2007 11:59 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I have some observations to make....

India is country where mediocrity is celebrated than Merit is hardly given its due !!!!!

I feel that merit is harldy a consideration in our society unlike USA or Europe.
Merit is not given respect, whereas success by hook or crook is the name of the game. Even crooks with lot of manipulation and sycophancy with very average brain can surpass all in our society. This success is accepted as intelligence and luck.
Our standards of success have become perverted, today underworld don may command more power and respect than an university professor.
Surely ,in todays India a don is more successful than an university professor.
It is shame that Amitabh Bachhan prefers role of Gabbar than Jay. It is reflection of falling standards of our society.
Except Naraynamurthy's, Premjis.,there are countless CEO's who are more successful ,not because of their talent but because they succeed on the basis of treachery & a good deal of unfair means.
There are several IIT'ians who are CEO's in USA ,however they would do far worse if they were to work in India.
India a country of one billion crabs who pull each other down, even most prestigious IITs/IIMs are no exceptions .
See people of one billion can not win a single gold medal in olympic,it is a shame.

The best & most popular game of cricket,India is ranked 7th in ODI . This game is played not even by 10 countries of the world.

Do you not think enjoy pulling each other down??????Why ,

And your point is ??? There are a billion people in our country and you have to stand against the competition to survive, which is never bad. And dont make nonsense statements like "There are several IIT'ians who are CEO's in USA ,however they would do far worse if they were to work in India.", and how is ever your comment related to this article??

Mr Narain,

If you have no work go s--- off instead of putting senseless mails like this.

By the way Australia is a continent and India is a country. There is no geographical comparision in size between Australia and UP. Australia is atleast 20 times the size of UP. The population might be less though. The problem is educated people like you and me waste their time on stupid things like this and do not contribute to the society and talk nonsense.

IMT Gaziabad

How does IMTGaziabad fair among the Private BSchools in acadamics and placements? Does the top recruiters in Finance visit IMT? iF THE SURVEY DOES NOT FIND IMT in top positions repeatedly under Industry interraction/interface, why does not IMT improve on that ? Does the evaluation actually takes place ojectively? I have my own doubts?

Oh IIPM - avoid them like the plague. Almost all the hype about IIPM is generated by them alone through their advertisements. Stay far away from them if you are planning either an MBA or looking for fresh MBAs to recruit for your company.
