Transaction fee on credit cards
by kaushal kumar on Nov 22, 2007 06:54 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Apart from this, I have noticed that purchasing petrol on a debit card is costlier.
Other such practices of credit cards are- charging annual fee and coarcing one to take a loan for any amount by telling him that no interest whatsoever will be charged and then start charging the interest at will once the loan has been taken.

Refusal
by chanchal chakrabarti on Nov 22, 2007 06:54 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Mostly electronics goods retailers / dealers charge 2% more. Once I refused to pay it,the dealers simply told me either you pay in cash or I wont sell. So, I am back to square one. Any solutions for that?

dealers are not supposed to charge. next time ask them to give you 2 charge slips-one for the goods purchased and the other charge slip for the interest component.then take the issue with the bank.the bank will get the extra money credited to your card. this is what my credit card provider told me.

Transaction fee on my debit card
by Shiwesh sharma on Nov 22, 2007 06:46 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I was buying a bike. I asked whether my AXIS Bank debit card would work for payment. The merchant said that let him try and he would tell me. I handed the debit card to him. Suddenly he comes back to me by saying that the card is working and he has deducted the price of bike. I noticed that the amount is price of bike plus 2-2.5% extra. I asked the reason. He explained something. Then I said I don't want the bike and I will come with cash or check some other time. He said no u can't do that. Even if you want to withdraw the trasaction you have to pay that 2.5% which has gone. In such cases what is the suggestion for me?

He can not do like that. First he has to inform u to the extra percentage chargable. Then only he can go for swipe ur card. Even after swiping ur card he can void ur transaction on his credit card accessing machine. For u to reverse back the credit amount in ur credit card account u have to wait some days in some cases billing date. So, he can not refuse to void ur transaction.

Do not Sign the transaction slip.Call up the bank and say that the said transaction is disputable and put it on hold. The bank has to roll back the money if you do not sign on the slip. If you do not sign but they still do not refund the money, you can go to court.

Paying transaction fees on your credit card?

The banks should ensure that the merchant doesn't charge any transaction fee from the customers. If any complaints are received against the merchant,
the bank should withdraw the swipe machine from merchant's establishment.
