dear sir, I was charged the transaction fees by the merchant thrice in past but my bank refunded it to me. The citi bank is very sincere in this regards but ICICI Bank, HDFC bank and BOB Cards have not been so customer friendly.i bought item then on citicard. I advise all to use CITI Cards only.Regards
You might mistaken by Cash Back offer with transaction fees refund. No bank would refund transaction fees but they are obliged to refund the proceedings from the Cash Back Offer
railways charges extra, for sure. i dont know about other agencies. its illegal to charge that extra amount from the customers above the mrp or the fixed railway ticket charge.
Even when you book tickets through Indian Railways or any flight tickets, surcharges are add and are paid by the Card holder. Why are blaming the Merchants, first let the Government stop this and set an example for the others. Merchant owners simply says "If you dont want to pay the transaction charges, pay in cash" - Rediff please let the public know who is governing this issue? Sharing experiences wont help. And if this is illegal who is there to stop it?
I have always fought & never paid transaction charge. Only rare times when I have consented is when trader has given me maximum possible discount over MRP & still allows me to pay by card instead of cash.
If you are buying the product at the MRP, then the dealer cannot charge you that surcharge. Although this rule excludes Petrol and Railway Tickets. If there are any other categories that are excluded it is clearly mentioned in your card member agreement and the monthly credit card bill. Whereas, if the dealer / retailer is selling the product at a price less than the MRP, then it has to be negotiated between him and the buyer. In any case, however, you shouldn't be paying more than the MRP.
yes there have been times when i have been charged on high value purchases. eg sony showroom in panaji goa. i guess that credit card people should ban these outlets as they are not supposed to charge u. no where in the world is this practise followed then why in our incredible india . bannnnnnnnnnnnnn them
