CAT is biased towards Science stream
by pradeep sharma on Nov 19, 2007 09:28 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I believe that CAT is biased towards students from science stream. For them QA is a walkover sort of stuff but for commerce students it is a hell. Threre should be level playing field for all streams and there should be a section for Taxation and other commercial laws. I vehemently object it.

I don't agree... The quant which is involved in CAT is of elementary high school level... If you were good at it then, you should be good at it even now... We have calculus when taking Science stream at 2 level... And i see no questions of calculus or even trigonometry in CAT... so... good luck...

I am SN Srikumar. An IIM A Alumini
by Srikumar SN on Nov 19, 2007 10:27 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I have gone throught he papers. After analysing the questions and I think any thing

1) For DI above 55% is good. Since it is the easiest of the three.. I expect almost all must have attempted the questions

2) For Verbal.. above 35 %.. Due to length and standard of the paragraphs. It seems students could not understand the questions properly went for wrong answers. I have enquired in Hyderabad with atleast some 600 candidates at different centres. Tough luck for verbal.

3) Quantitative: above 45% I was suprised thinking "Why they went for one particular back ground students" It is good.., it is very difficult and Very easy too provided you have science back ground.

Any body getting above 65 percent will be a game for this years CAT.

Its a waste being an IIM alumni, who cant even gauge a cut off.Are you kidding 55%in DI ? 45% in EU ? You are NUTS. 65% overall....that means approx,200 Marks.its a JOKLE that you are an IIM alumni.I guess its a fake like your estimated cut offs

over all 65 percent this is not percentile. Bloody see before writing. Got it. Second thing this is how that goes. An IIM alumini in training part time for the past 8 years. Sent almost 200 persons from 2000. I do know how to analyse. IF What I mentioned is wrong then check in the overall results.

U may write a paper once twice in a life time. After joing My MBA at IIM A.. I have written CAT 11 times every year till now just to know the level of of difficulty. Got it.

Some body has used very harsh words. My Name is Srikumar SN. I am working for Goldman Sachs. I am iit M and IIM A Grad. I did CA too. This year seven of my juniors wrote CAT. I mentioned after verifing things in details.

I think you people have mis understood what i have written. Some thing around 120 and above is the ideal score for this years. It may be tough. Some question are dead easy like DI.

If u check 2001 paper this of the same mode. If people have gone 2001 and 2 papers they would have have answer at least three questions. Even though overall the paper is not of this level but still that is one of the toughest. Still students scored 130 above.. The level may be different but it is not too tough to handle that is why i said 55% percent of questions.

I accept I am wrong If I am wrong. Donot worry wait until jan 8th.

Overall it was a easy ride
by pranesh joshi on Nov 18, 2007 10:36 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Hey Guys,
This year CAT seemed to be like a cake walk.
RC was an easiet one i ever attempted and quant seemed to be a bit tricky but if u actually see there were 15-20 questions which doesn't require to use detailed knowledge, can be done using hit & trial from options.

I think this year cut offs would be anywhere between 110-115 marks. I am quite sure to achieve that.......

Rest is in His hand.

The moment you said "the hit and trail option" I doubt how many marks you will get. I am sorry to say in CAT there is no hit and trail. For each and every question thee is a specific answer. Lord Krishna bless u and best of luck.
