Hi ppl pls dont lose hope....never!..... ever!....nowadays IT ppl r hiring even BSC graduates....try out sumthing....it is a bane to b born in this country where even talent goes unrecognized, sorry to b sarcastic but it is true....it may b hard to find job but not impossible.....never give up....
Dear all.. i have read all the masges..i agree u all..me too is going to finish Ph.D. in biochemistry (there is no diffrence between biochem/biotech or micro at Ph.D. level)..BASICALLY THIS FIELD IS MADE FOR THOSE PEOPLE WHO ARE INTRESTED TO SERVE HUMANKIND..A TRUE SCIENTIST NEVER ASK FOR MONEY..ELFERED NOBEL HAD BEEN AWARDED LOT OF DIAMONDS AND GEMS BUT THEY PUT THEM IN DRAWER WRITTEN "STONES"..SOME YEARS BACK SCIENCE WAS THOUGHT TO BE THE FIELD OF REPUTATION AND PROUD BUT NOW PEOPLE LOOK IT TO HARVEST MONEY...THEY JUST WANT TO DO PG/PHD AND WANT TO EARN HIGH SALARIES...AS THERE IS A BIG DIFFRENCE IN BIOTECH AND IT BASED COMPANY'S STRUCTURES IN WHICH FORMER HAVE TO SPEND LOT OF MONEY ON CHEMICALS/INSTRUMENTS...IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO GIVE VERY HIGH SALARY...SO NEVER COMPARE WITH THE IT PROFESSIONAL... IN CONTRAST..IF U LOOK IN US/UK..ONLY THE PEOPLE WHO ARE REALLY INTERESTED IN SCIENCE COME IN THIS FIELD...IN INDIA AS THE MONEY SEEKER ARE IN THIS FIELD THAT'S WHY THIS FIELD IA LACKING A TEAM OF TRUE SCIENTIST.... I JUST WANT TO ASK A QUASTIUON TO EVERY ONE TO HOW MANY SCIENTIST U HAVE MEET WHO ARE ENGAGED IN SCIENCE WITH FULL DEVOTION...??? ANSWERS...YOU'LL GET..

thats right. Agree with you. Technology can be considered as the aplicatuon of science. SO it becomes matter of money and business
I have been working as a consultant for IT/BT/NT/SEZ for the past 40 months registering best companies in the world in IT & ITeS in Hyderabad.I have not come across a single entrepreneur in the BT.The ongoing hype and hoopla in Biotech Boom is very misleading.Certain crooks in the government and their agents plant stories in the ever obliging newspapers and biased TV Channels after identifying and owning in benami names huge chunks of virgin lands nearby cities conveniently driving out the villagers and just like sprinkling pepper and salt on omlette they float this and that "Technology Parks" named after dead politicians and mint money by selling those acquired lands at huge price per acre to MNCs and indian companies. The wicked intention is to make fast buck and easy money within six months. In this connection land mafia's reach is very high. There is no quality only quantity matters just to feed politicans questions raised and answers in the assemblies and parliament.Unfortunately, few MNCs create one or two men and women as "techies" and wealth creators and make india weak in health sciences, manufacturing, certain engineering segments. To suffice my point further just look at the soaring expenditure on our family medical bills. It is said that Americans are afraid of medical bills. In our country life is the cheapest commodity.Look at the way MNC appointed one NRI indain Ms.Indra Nooyi as a CEO for their carbonated water as if entire india is dependent on foreign products. This type of "millionaire indian" mentality poisions young brains and end up working in sweat-shops(sex shops) call centers. If india wants to surge ahead we must be strong in fundamentals and principles and formulaes certainly not boasting ourselves as "back office of the whole world" doing clerical/ data entry works thereby compromising on our skills, talent and innovations at the age of below 28 years. My advice to younger ones is not to fall a prey to "boom" syndrome jobs which does not grow on trees.Take suggestions from experienced people and surge ahead with a positive mind with internet as a tool.Secondly indian education system is not sound.Thirdly indian constitution does not reflect indian cultural ethos, traditions and customs etc.,etc.Fourthly there is "no energy left in our system(s)" to lay strong foundation for self reliance and take pride in self esteem.

HI I believe that any course/degree wherein the student has put in maximum possible effort, despite all the adversities, will not face much problem when looking for jobs. It is not the course that matters, but how it how seriously it has been taken makes all the difference. In this context, it is imperative to mention that we understand that quality education at graduate and post-graduate level in India is limited to a very small number of Universities. It is even true for education at school level. In this scenario, the only solution is to arrange wonderful faculty and implement serious guidelines before registrating any university for any course. Also, we cannot blame the system if we are not putting in efforts to improve it. Can somebody tell me how many of the total number of highly-educated people opt for a teaching profession??? We need good faculty, and it can only be generated from people like us, who value education and understand what difference it can make!

IT field A student = average in academics can find a job in MNC at ease, starting salary 10 to 20ooo pm bcoz job openings high. Biotech field A student = above average in academics can find a job in pharma company after much difficulty, starting salary = 5000 or 6000 pm
why should a student should put maximum effort in getting 5000/6000Rs job if he gets a 10000/20000Rs job at ease?

Hi I agree with you that moneywise we are far behind the other professions.. But this has happened because of the MNC's, for example , they are paying a software engg. 50,000pm because for them this is much cheaper as compared to paying salaries to their people in the US. We are helpless and the only way out is keep fighting..or for better change ur profession. Everything depends on your priorities in life but definitely a better pay scale in Biotech. or life sciences will attract better students and the quality of research in India can be improved. This in turn will bring high paying jobs too. There was a stipend-hike 3 years ago from CSIR/UGC for PhDs in India from 5000 to 10,000 per month. We also hope that this will increase further to a reasonable amount.
hey Rashmi, great work. Please write a piece about the Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences (B.Pharm) course in India. B.Pharm grads study so hard but have bad job opportunities after graduation. Then they go to the US, take licensing exams and earn $100k! Looking forward to reading more of your work!
Ok..now let me ask one thing. Forget biotechnology..Waht about phd in biochemistry.I am Msc in biochemistry and about to complete my PhDa t the end of this year..If i dont want to go for post=doc research..are there any sure prospects for my getting a job in biotech industry in India? I dont think so..Please someone give an opinion on this issue.
