Not for studies
by sunita sindhu on Jun 24, 2007 04:41 PM  Permalink

Majority of the students chosing to study abroad have the intention to settle down there.I have seen in UK that the students just continue their enrollment in some or other low fee institutions and carry on full time jobs. There are some immigration flaws so it is possible at least in Uk.

Great Universities
by Ratan Jha on Jun 22, 2007 11:00 AM  Permalink

The Gist of the discussion is that you should only go to reputed foreign universities. Only then it would add value to your education. There are thousand of crap universities in US, UK, Austrlia........Beware of them. Don't just enroll in a University just because you want to study abroad. This might affect your future. These crap Universities are not held in high esteem abroad. These days even in India the awareness has increased thanks to information boom and employers can easily diffrentiate between excelllent/good/decent and crap universities.

Studying in Australia
by Gagan on Jun 22, 2007 10:07 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Universities in australia are treating Indian and chinese students as cash cows and are miliking them to the extent. No matter which university it is-if you are not having professional experience, you will end up in odd jobs. (whether it is CQU or Monash)
Also at work place you will always be looked down by Blue eyed blonde people.
If you are really serious about studies, try your luck in Indian universities.

I have done my Masters degree here, got the permament residency here, but cann't find a "decent" job in IT & T. and i have done my degree with distinction as well.
So think many times before coming to Australia, cheers,
Garry

Studing in America
by Rani on Jun 22, 2007 09:09 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I did my bachelors degree in India and did a diploma in Business administration and also lots of computer related courses in the US.
I feel one should experience the college life abroad as it is totally different from Indian colleges and univercity. One becomes more independent and takes responsiblity about her work at home and in school too. Here in India our children are spoilt as all the work at home is dont by maids and so when they go to America they take charge and become more responsible and do their own Laundry and dishes and keep the room clean. I didnt do any work in India but when i went to America I had to take the challenge and responsiblity and it changed me as a person. I wasnt lazy anymore and became more active and started planning my life too. Here kids are spoon fed and everything is taken care for them. I have 2 daughters and I would definatly would send them to America or any other country for their college.

For this issue, you dont have to send your kids to america. You can ask them do the house work here itself. You are fooling yourself madam. Your are trying to the same mistake what your parents did for you. I didnt deny the point you have mentioned that students have to explore diferent culture and life as it helps them to understand and adopt to the situation. But it turned out to be funny after reading your 2nd point and the final resolution :)

No offense.

What? I am unable to make any sense out of this tirade, even after I tried to guess what the words (like 'intellual', 'soclled', 'practicle', 'creterion' ...) meant.

You got to be kidding me! As if it is out of nowhere everyone started conversing in good English. And for some, Bad english seems incognitive. Are you all on a one time ego trip or are you just plain old jerks? I understood everything Bhupinder tried to convery. And I have to say I concur to his thoughts.

And by the way, What the heck to do you mean by a Tirade? A tirade is long, violent, censorious speech. BS's speech is neither long, or censorious. So much for being a english professor, huh?

Education prepares one to hedge challenges in life and that could be possible if you have multi cultural and overseas knowledge, finally the world is becoming global village
